Hello everyone!

I am a new user of this forum. However, I have been playing this game for over 3 years, maybe even since the release.
I recently started a city called Avlinas, it doesn't have any mods or assets. I thought it might be an interesting challenge, because I usually play the game with mods. I am still using the official expansions in this game.

Avlinas currently houses about 50,000 people and takes up 7 tiles. It has been built on the Cliffside Bay map, as it's one of my favorite vanilla maps. As I said in the title, many areas are work in progress and it's possible I will change them over time.

This is the IT cluster, which I consider the downtown. As you can see the city uses both European and International themes, and I use those to have some contrast in the city.


Here is a beach I made, I placed some piers as well as commercial leisure buildings. Too bad there aren't any beach props in the vanilla game. On the left, you can see a modern residential quarter, made with self-sustainable apartment buildings.


This is what I call the old city center, it has the city hall (top left) and a big city square. The city arch from Parklife is also there. And as you can see, there are both old and modern buildings around the square.


There are some suburbs around the city, some of them have a much more loosely designed road network than the main city.


This suburb is a bit more modern and has also a more precise road grid. And again, I used self-sustainable residences, because they look very modern.


I'm going to end this post with a skyline view of the city, which looks like this at the moment.


That's all I currently have to share, I hope you like my city! I will post more pictures and of course expand it later. I also made up a bit of story to some places so I'll tell them also. Bye for now!
 
Here's an update to the city. First of all, an airport has been built. The area is not finished yet and is missing any details, I will take care of that.

I also made a harbor on the other side of the map. The industrial and agricultural areas are going to go through a redesign, they're temporary at the moment.

A new artificial island has been made, which has residential, commercial and office buildings, and I hope they will evolve into skyscrapers soon.

And as requested, here's the zoomed out view of the city. By the way, you can notice I have water pumps and waste treatment plants very close to each other, I will eventually move the pumps somewhere else, for now the floating garbage collectors are there and they're doing a good job.

In the next update, we will also take a look at parks and other landmarks that are already in the city. And for now, bye!
 
Hello there!
This update is a bit smaller, but in this post, I will also take you through some existing landmarks in the city.

First things first, a new area has been made close to the highway, it is now home to the stadium and aquarium.
And here's a new district in the European theme. In the background you can see another district which goes up the mountain a bit.


That's all I've done today, now here are some other places in the city.

Here's one of my favorite areas in the city, it has a university, the Grand Mall and the Lungs of the City (an unique park from the Green Cities expansion)


Another park area, and this one uses elements from the Parklife expansion.


The last park, which actually uses the unique Central Park.

Another update: Avlinas has reached the Megalopolis milestone - 65,000 citizens! :)

I bought the 9th tile, which allowed me to place waste treatment plants away from the city:

A luxury residential area has been built on a mountain near the city. Well, it's not that luxury yet, but it will be soon.


After frequent blackouts the city invested in a new nuclear power plant, which will prevent problems with power for a long time. The power plant area is heavily protected, and even has a toll booth
 
A new town has been built, and I called it Lazaret Town, because it has the Lazaret plaza in the middle...

I'll be honest, these sculptures are really creepy!

The Avlinas Prison has been built. The funniest thing is that I used the amusement park fence around it...

I managed to fit a cloverleaf in the middle of the city, instead of the weak roundabout that's been there forever

Some things I'm planning to do in the future:
First, unlock all Unique Buildings, and place them in the city. I don't have them all unlocked because sometimes they just lock by themselves for no reason.
After I place them, I'll look forward to building the Monuments, either scattered around the city or in one big complex
Then it's possible I will add 81 tiles mod to the city because I'm running out of room already.

Time for some updates again...
First, some updates to the coast were made. A new artificial island focused on leisure, and some new unique buildings.


The high-tech industrial park was removed.


Finally, the hadron collider is in the city:


And here's the eden project, I don't really like where it is right now, I will likely move it in an area of its own.


After I place all 5 base game monuments, I think it will be a good time to start introducing mods to the city.

The last thing... Here's the new government district!
 
Hey everyone!
The city of Avlinas is almost complete now, I managed to build the space elevator. This means I already have all 5 monuments from the base game.
I don't want to abandon this city just yet, so I decided to add some mods, to hopefully make the gameplay longer. I included some mods like 81 tiles, road anarchy, unlock all and so on.
There's also the realistic population mod, which generated a huge residential demand in the city, and the population rose from about 95,000 to 115,000 and it's still rising. This mod also made most businesses bankrupt because of not enough workers. It should be fine in a few years (in-game).

Recently, Avlinas has been in a bit of a crisis, because the demand for commercial and industrial buildings is pretty much non-existent at the moment. In this area of the city, most of the empty spaces used to be commercial buildings, but they all got abandoned and bulldozed.


But there are also some other news. There was a lot of iron ore found in a nearby mountain, so the city decided to start extracting it.However, there aren't many businesses in the area yet, and it's mostly empty. Besides that a new town has been established near the ore extraction area, called Dalehill.


And here's the ore extraction area, which is empty for now, and in the background there's another small settlement simply called Sunset.


A castle has also been built, overlooking the city. It's a reconstruction of an old castle that used to be there in the medieval times.


There's also a new suburb called Lower Hemlock, and some work on the countryside in the background. Some fields, forests, abandoned buildings. And also the ultimate recycling plant, I think it fits here.


In the main part of the city, several tram lines have been established. As seen on the picture they are really popular.

There still are some stuff left to do in terms of gameplay in this city, one of the most important things is start extracting some oil from the valley south from the airport. The only unique building I haven't placed yet is the ChirpX launch site. Also, I already placed the International Airport from After Dark expansion, but it's not in this update yet.
Anyway, I'm really open to any suggestions, ideas etc. Please let me know what you'd like to see in the city! I have the entire map unlocked so suggestions about developing certain areas are especially welcome! Bye for now :)
 
Here's the international airport.


Dalehill Ore Extraction area is slowly filling up. However, to encourage it to grow, I had to replace another industrial area with a new suburb.
