I had a weird thing happened in a game I'm working on. I'm playing HoI2 Complete Doomsday Armageddon, 1.3b.
It's November 1940, I've been playing as Germany since 1936. After I created Vichy France, I've taken over the British Isles and Spain (Republican Spain won the SCW, so I took them out). Meanwhile I also have an alliance with Turkey (in addition to all the historical allies plus Argentina), and I've taken all of the Middle East and North Africa. The UK only has India, Burma, and parts of Africa below Egypt left in its hands, and only three techteam slots. I figure I can send a small amphibious force to run around India for a while to force them to surrender (I don't want to march through Persia, Turkey is big enough already), or if that doesn't work, I can leave the Italians and Turks to garrison Africa and the Mid East until I get Bitter Peace with the USSR when I invade them in May 1941.
But I noticed something strange. Sometime during the past month or so, my two allies Bulgaria and Romania left my alliance and went back down to relations: 100+ with me. I didn't have that on pop-up and couldn't find it in the log, so I don't know when it happened exactly.
What would cause this to happen? Is it because my belligerence is higher than normal? (It's floating around 90 at the moment, been planning to release puppets before BP fires.) Also, what should I do about it, work on influencing them back into my alliance or just invade and annex them? It is especially annoying because I can no longer strategically deploy troops to the Middle East now that Bulgaria is 'neutral'.
I don't understand why this should happen. I thought allies couldn't leave alliances when they're at war except by event, or maybe if coup'd.
