In nearly all my games that I've played as both Axis and Allied (and minor non-affiliated) nations I've discovered one immutable truth: The Axis will always win. Period. Germany steamrolls through Russia, destroys the Allies in the middle east and shares India with a triumphant Japan before it storms through Africa and then chills for a bit while Britain and the US stockpile units for Ragnarok.

In my game as Germany I easily conquered Britain, Canada AND the US before 1941 (the US was a cakewalk nearly devoid of units and only a nuisance in what it did to my TC with all that rebellion).

In one game as Britain I landed with nearly 30 troops in Kiel shortly after the DOW on Poland. I sweep through the naval yards and push the inept KM into the sea where the hungry, waiting Royal Navy is waiting (and soundly destroy the KM). However, then a wave of destruction rolls over my troops, pushing them into the sea without so much as a struggle. It was like I was Mexico and the forces against me were Guatemalan. It was that quick. These were mot, inf, mar and a few arm units with brigades on nearly all of them (AA, AT, LT and E) so it wasn't like I went in unprepared.

So my query is this: Is the Axis overpowered or is it just routinely "lucky?" My theory is that Germany's tech teams need to get bounced back a bit or otherwise have their power ratcheted down in another way.

We do know the Axis currently is overpowered actually. We'll trying to amend this in the upcoming release, which will enter Alpha testing within a week or so.

It's not so much that the Axis (mainly Germany, being honest) is overpowered, it is more a question of the USSR (in particular) being somewhat underpowered. As Hagar said, we are looking at this aspect and rebalancing things accordingly.

Glorious news. Your mod is my all time favorite, I absolutely love the myriad ways I can modify my army, brigades and industry and tailor them to my specific needs.

I did have one question/suggestion. Would there be any way you could make a ladder to better industrialization if you have a high enough IC (via conquest or otherwise?). I'm not sure if that's even possible in the engine or via event. But you've done some pretty awesome events (love the naval building events and new tech team events). So I was curious if maybe this was a possibility too as I'm a fan of taking "sand and rocks" nations and turning them into powerhouses.

Re your question about Industrial advancement : Basically, no. It isn't that is not possible to do with the game engine (although there are some limitations there), but more the fact that the game only covers 15-20 yrs or so of time - not really enough to develop up your technological base.

We have considered some ideas for allowing the USSR and/or China to advance a step - but even then, they would basically do it by "hi-jacking" someone else - east Germany (in the case of the USSR) or Manchuria (the Japanese puppet area) in the case of China. Even then it wouldn't occur until very late in the game, so it is almost sort of pointless, in a way.

Plus there are problems like no trigger for IC, so you can't set events to fire based on how much IC you have, for example.

Yeah, I tend to disagree that the Axis are overpowered, as in one game I managed to take over all of western europe with about 30-35 Canadian divisions (a mix of motorized infantry and armour). Of course, I did need to use a different tactic, I had established a defensive perimeter in the Normandy area, then did deep strikes surrounding units and eliminating them, retreating back to my perimeter, waiting till more enemy units moved up and repeated. I did this for about 3 or 4 months then established a further perimeter and doing raids in belgium and holland. Due to Germany's reversal on the western front, the USSR started to win, we met up in eastern Poland in mid '44. If there's one thing I'd like fixed it's the AI to actually support such major operations, I certainly didn't want to go it alone. Aside from friendly air units, nothing even attempted to support me.

AI air usage is underpowered

Ive found that that the axis land forces are overpowered but it only takes a cpl of CAS or Tac units to turn the tide of battle into your favor.

In fact the AI's lack of building air units of all types is very very week ive found in core and i win easily with air superiority.
