None of this fazed my ally. Germany proceeded to conquer all of Norway; we see it here in mid-conquest. Also, for some reason Republican Spain (recall that the Republicans won the civil war there) declared war on Germany. I wonder what Germany will conquer next? Heh.

Rapcw-san, I'm glad you ask. With no Soviet front to worry about, I turned my full attention to China. Its backstabbing had NOT been forgotten in Tokyo's Imperial Palace, I can assure you. Very shortly I rolled up the entire east coast of the country and prepared to conquer and annex all of Nationalist China.

I completed the conquest of coastal China by hopping over to Hainan from the mainland. Interestingly, this operation required naval support, since a Chinese fleet controlled the Gulf of Tonkin. So one of my carrier groups saw its first action of the war. Here it is providing cover as my troops march triumphantly into Hainan, securing eastern China.

More dispatches to follow. Rest assured, Glorious Emperor, that we will not stop this time until China is fully liberated. Then we shall turn our attention to the western imperialists.

I have composed a haiku for the occasion:

A red bird flies south /
and searches for an eagle /
in an iron nest.

magnificant poem, may I?

From the rising sun /
on the Westward wind rides /
great carriers of war ;)

anyway, I started my own japan game yesterday, but forgot to save when the 226 incident happened :( I'll restart today.

BTW, didn't You get anything? Vladivostok at least?

Ooo, looks like Germany might conquer Norway.

Anyway, removing Nationalist China will let you move on the smaller warlords easier. They have a tendency to join up with the Nationalists once there's a little heat. This is probably their maladjusted definition of the lesser of two evils.

And of course, with no Nationalist China to beg for help... :)

Thats weird if you are part of the Axis when Bitter Peace triggers you should get pretty much all of Siberia.
I'd advise you to reload and make sure you're part.

Hmm you're playing on normal/normal? I find it very strange you're having such difficulties with china...

For example, I'm playing as Japan as well on normal/normal, and this is what asia looks like october 15th 1939:

Perhaps I had no difficulties with china because I attacked them while they were at war with those pesky warlords :D

I think this is part of the Manchuria and Japan in and out of the Axis problem. Very annoying!

Ozzeh-san: I'm having an easy time with China now that I'm not fighting a two-front war. Actually, I fought China earlier, from 1937 on, and accepted peace after I'd conquered half the country. Militarily, it wasn't that tough. But at the time, I was worried that my Transport Capacity was too far in the red. Now that I am more familiar with TC, I'm pretty sure I could've pressed on and finished the job then. If you look back at the AAR, you'll see I consulted with my advisers on whether to press on, and I got mixed advice, half counseling peace, half war.

Neroon-san: Yes, I was deprived of all my Siberian conquests, including Vladivostok. All that time and effort for nothing! Well, not quite nothing: I annexed Mongolia, and more importantly I may have helped turn the tide in the west. The Axis is now coasting toward a big win, unless the Allies pull off D-Day or conquer me.

I concur with Mind elemental, if you have no problems with this, because you should have recieved it.

If he was in Axis, he should be at war with USA and USSR from the beginning. I suppose he isn't really in the Axis, but even then he should get some of SU territory (Vladivostok, Sakchalin, Commodore)

I'm definitely in the Axis. I chose the "Join Axis" option when that event arose, and the victory screen shows my Japanese flag along with Germany and Italy in the Axis. But I was not automatically pulled into war with the USSR, the USA, or the UK. In fact, almost every war I've fought has been of my own choosing, with the exception of China's opportunistic Delcaration of War on me after I started liberating Siberia.

Anyway, I don't care. I'm coasting to a big win as it is, and the only question for me is whether I should mop up all the Chinese warlords on the mainload or pick a fight with the Brits and Dutch in the Southern Resource Area. It's now 1946, the end is in sight, so I'm ready to declare victory soon and move on.

Speaking of victory, I quickly mopped up Nationalist China and annexed in 1945. I wish I'd done this in my first war with them. IMHO, China rolls over way too easy in this game. It should be a very tough nut for Japan to crack.

Here's my empire after annexing nationalist China:

So I have a year or so left to play, and the question is whether to mop up a few more Chinese warlords; strike south into the Southern Resource Area; or re-ignite my conflict with the Soviets. The rational thing to do is to coast to victory, but where's the fun in that? I'm leaning toward attacking the Brits and Dutch, just because I want to. :)

Well, excluding using an no-time-up mod... I advise connecting your Chinese empire to your territory in Indochina, then moving on Britain and the Netherlands for the sake of a good aftermath for Japan. By hitting the South Pacific, you can grab all the rich resources in the area, and you can start on a vast Asian/ African empire by jumping from Madagascar to the rest of Africa and attacking Burma, India, etc.

Actually, it's possible that you could pull this off while mopping up some warlords as well.

No matter what you do, you have placed Japan in its proper place of glory. Congratulations!

I would advice liberating the poor people of Siberia, they have been crushed under the evil Communist dogs for too long!
