One line summary of your issue
black screen after unity logo

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When i run the game i get the openning logo splash pages, then after the unity logo the screen goes black, my mouse is the blue circle "thinking" icon. And the game is frozen infinitely.
I can ctrl+alt+del and select task manager, but i can't actually alt+tab to the task manager nor any other window. even alt+F4 does nothing but make an annoying *ding* sound. There's no way to exit the black screen of battletech without hard rebooting my pc.

I have tried.
1. Verifying game cash
2. reinstalling game
3. adding -windowed to launch options (still launches full screen)
4. alt+enter (does nothing)

people on the forums are mentioning over and over updating nvidia drivers, but I have an AMD RX580, many other people do not have nvidea cards. I'm wondering if anyone tested the game on an AMD card before launch. My drivers are the most up to date.

In the output log i see an error with unsupported vertex shader, I have read on other forums for other games this is an issue introduced in the newest unity, that can only be resolved by changing how the game is configured on the development end.

Steps to reproduce the issue
launch game. always black screen, 100% of time.

Can't really help but I'm using a RX580 8GB and the game mainly works fine for me.
Strangely i have missing text from the buttons in the menus (am searching the forum for this currently) but wanted to let you know that perhaps its not just your card at fault.

Thank you for letting me know. that's good info. It's so frustrating because i never have issues with my pc, and this game just refuses to run.

Check this out. so on a whim i tried running the game with my internet unplugged, and it loaded and ran fine. So DRM related?

I can even now run it with the internet plugged in and it works. just took once of it actually loading for it to work fine, at least for now.

I had the same thing. Apparently they did not include the video codecs that Unity needs to run the videos which start right after the splash. I found a codec pack, mentioned in another thread (CCCP coded pack) which resolved the issue. (looks sketchy but I scanned it and found nothing, before installing).
