Game has no save file and black screen upon restart

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I played game for 4 hours - it was great - then saved and left. Came back on and hit continue and nothing happened. I have unsynced the save on steam, restarted steam, restarted the game, rebooted my pc and still no load comes up. Continue does NOT work and when I hit new to start a campaign again, a black screen of neverending loading. There is no save file to be found in the common drive of Battletech folder anywhere.

Steps to reproduce the issue
see above as I have done all these things over and over again and I don't even get the character creation screen. Attached is the screen shot of my common drive for the game

I do have GOG instead of Steam, but had the same issue as you describe. (button "Load" inactive, button "continue" clickable but not responding)

I killed the .exe via task manager, restarted the game, and was able to load the savegames and continue the campaign as intended.
By the way: this bug is already acknowledged and this is the recommended workaround (https://twitter.com/BATTLETECH_Game/status/988905883345223680)

okay ive done this but still same result. I have looked in every screen in the task manager but did not find any Battletech exe file. I have clicked off the DLC install on steam and nothing is working. I must be a dolt here. But thank you.
