Softlock during damage display

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
While my mech was firing on a target (SRM carrier), there was a brief graphical stutter, and then the firing and damage animation played. However, the target did not appear to lose any armor or structure from its health bar despite the damage numbers appearing, and the game then softlocked. I can open the main menu (load/save, though save is greyed out); and I can hear a "beep" when I mouse over the target or other enemy units on the screen. However, I can't do anything else; the camera is frozen in place and no keys other than the one to open the main menu work.

Steps to reproduce the issue
It just happened during a normal attack in a normal mission, so I'm not sure.
