Now that BF 2 is over, i would like KJ to write a lengthy essay over what his goals were with the extreme French-positive policy he held

Ok fine, I'm bored tonight anyway

I think it's well known that Spain towards the latter part of the game was not the power house it was in the former part, because of subs, my bad monarch and to some degree the non-stop wars. It put me in a slightly more strained position, because while I had France to worry about, I also had huge ambitions, like Spanish Poland, more Eastern cots, and stemming from that, hopes of a decent income!

I couldn't accomplish these goals very well with France on my back.
On the other hand, I had allies, many allies. England was a friend, as was Austria, Brandenburg and Sweden. I had had my way with France a few times, even while fighting Venice. And though the French were by no means a country I could walk over, Spain was by the same token not afraid to fight the French. I did gain Venetian lands while fighting France, after all. I only suffered one ugly defeat. I could've cooperated with Austria and taken the rest of Italy. It's true that this would've been rational, but I like to go for variety. It makes the game much more interesting.
Is that a good thing to have dictating national policy, some variety?

Variety keeps the game fresh, not just for others but for me. It keeps me motivated to try hard. I play better when I like my country and enjoy what I'm doing with it. But not only that, I needed to worry about England. The longer I waited to do something about it, the harder it would be for me when I finally did do something. Tonio might've remained an ally the entire game, but since I didn't want to let that happen, I acted accordingly. It's possible that my timing was bad, that I should've waited until after I'd taken more lands in Italy to make my alliance with France. On the other hand, if I hadn't been gone for many of those following sessions I could've steered the country on a nicer path I think.
Just think of how badly Spain would've fared if I had been subbed while still an enemy of France?

Maybe with Austria on its side it could've held its own, but I'm not so sure. Austria was hurt by my choice, but if it had supported me a little more candidly early in the game, it would not have suffered. I recall wasting 2kD on the Germans earlier while I was at war with the French, just so for them to sign seperate peace's

.
BTW Mulli, didn't you get hoards of money from England as a result of my policy change?
