Spectacular results, I think, should come from taking risks - impossible under a 1-6 die roll (or 2-12) but possible when using way more gradations.
Thinking about the number of entries in teh EU battle results, how many of you would be willing to tinker with very big matrices of battle results a la Soapy Frog. The 'factors' would have to influence (by multiples) or you'd need the ability to have outliers (and teh bigger requirement to populate the norm). That seems confusing enough
