Witness the power of a properly timed Executive order. That, and the crisis going your way really helped you..

It also helped that we passed just about most of the crisis as I seem to recall.

The destiny deck was really nice to you. There were two or three checks in a row where you folks passed the checks only barely, and in at least one case because the DD was helping you.

Like I said, you got lucky. Just before you jumped to NC the raiders nearly shot a ship with 2 pop on it. The jump into an asteroid field of all places destroyed an empty ship instead of something that really mattered. (I manually shuffled the tokens in that particular case, I had the box handy at the moment.. normally I use random.org)
Then there was the fact that one Cylon didn't get a super crisis because he got scanned by you at exactly the wrong time, and the other one didn't get to play it because NC hit before he could get around to it. If the fleet hadn't jumped away before his turn Colonial One would likely have gotten blown up with you and Zarek on it.

Yeah, the game seemed very easy after the initial difficulties before the first jump. Sure, we lost most of the fuel, but it's not as critical as it is without the Pegasus expansion. The morale is the real killer in Pegasus, but in this game we managed to guard it very zealously. Also, what helped us a lot was that most of our resource losses we took through losing civvies. That's the best way to lose resources, then you don't have to worry about as many civilians after the New Caprica phase. The XOs are really powerful when it comes to preparing/evacuating civilians ships.

Also the Cylons couldn't hinder our progress too much. Both Cylons being pilots can be destructive before the New Caprica phase, but there they cannot do that much harm. Very few crises require piloting cards, so we could still pass the crises quite comfortably (we did have some luck going our way, too). IMO, the Cylons should've started by brigging/sickbaying us. That would've depleted our cards, and made it more difficult for us in the long run.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who participated and also to randakar for excellent GMing; everything went really smoothly.

In hindsight I believe Rorschach should have activated comms twice instead of revealing; That would have cost you another 2 pop without a doubt, and then you'd have had to choose between jumping or executing/brigging him (skill check difficulty for brigging could get brought down to 2 though, if you combine various character traits and drawbacks).

With 2 less pop you'd have looked at 3 pop on Kriszo's turn, the jump would have been too risky, and this game would not have been over yet ;-)

Getting the sympathizer on our side was huge also. Oddly the presidency was almost totally useless save for picking on crisis as we really never got around to using or needing the quorum deck.

The quorum deck is very very powerful.

But in the early stages of the game nobody seemed to trust EL enough to give him an XO. And of course at some points there just was no time.
His remaining quorum card could have been useful, though ..

Code:
[U]ASSIGN MISSION SPECIALIST[/U]

[B]Action[/B]: Draw 2 politics cards and give this card to any other player.
Keep this card in play. The next time the Fleet jumps, this player chooses the destination instead of the Admiral.
He draws 3 Destination Card (instead of 2) and chooses 1. Then discard this card.

For some other examples: Here's the top 5 cards of the Quorum deck.

Code:
[U]AUTHORIZATION OF BRUTAL FORCE[/U]

[B]Action[/B]: Destroy 3 raiders, 1 heavy raider, or 1 centurion.
Then roll a die and if 2 or less, lose 1 population.
Then discard this card.

Code:
[U]UNSAVORY CONNECTIONS[/U]

[B]Action[/B]: Discard 2 random Skill Cards and draw 2 Treachery Cards.
Then gain +1 Food or +1 Fuel and discard this card.

Code:
[u]RESOURCES FOR GALACTICA[/u]

[B]Action[/B]: Repair up to 1 location and 2 damaged Vipers.
Then discard this card.

Code:
[u]INSPIRATIONAL SPEECH[/u]

[B]Action[/B]: Roll a die. If 6 or higher, gain 1 morale and remove this card from the game.
Otherwise, no effect and discard this card.

Code:
[u]CONSULT THE ORACLE[/u]

[B]Action[/B]: Look at the bottom card of any 1 deck.
Then look at all the cards in the Destiny Deck and discard 2 of them.
Then shuffle the Destiny Deck and discard this card.

Yeah, well. You got lucky with more than just the symphatizer. Slinky got the other Cylon card in the sleeper phase and gave it to Rorschach upon his execution. If slinky had chosen you, or Jopi, or EL life would have looked completely different. Imagine Slinky reinfiltrating back into the fleet so that he could get assigned the mission specialist card .. One of those jump choices was 3 distance, -3 fuel. Immediate loss of the game by the human side.

Giving it to me would have led to my immediate execution...

It might have. Or you might have convinced the others that EL was a lying cheating cylon bastard ;-)
If you'd sown just enough doubt for them to let you live until the next jump you could have done some serious damage ;-)

edit: So nobody is interested in running the next round?

Yes it would have, although giving it to me would have been interesting. I would have started to pull more quanium cards and likely played the destroy raiders risking population, hold the other one for when Slinky inflitraded back in. I would have called for a SP, and most likely people would think that I was not a cyclon, and I just said Jopi was not, so they knew that there would be no way I could be lying about that. If Jopi was a cyclon, I would have had to been one, but if he was not, why would a Cyclon say he was not when he could get someone excuted costing morale. There by clearing me in most peoples eyes, leaving the remaining three to wonder about who was the last Cyclon.

I was totally prepared to take the presidency had the cards gone to EL. I had done more than enough to prove my colonial nature and I had the friends in low places power to help bring about a new tyrannical rule over the fleet!!! mwhahahahaha!!!!.....errrr uhhh I mean to replace a suspected cylon president.

Sorry, I've been following this game, and Did you just nuke New Caprica?!!! That's the move of a magnificent bastard!. Also, the clips of the Adama manoeuvre made me want to go watch this again. I'd quite like to be in next game.

Yes. The GM took the liberty of directing a few nukes at ground level, too. :p

I'd quite like to be in next game.

Well, at least we have players for it :)

So long as we have enough vet players to help explain the game to any new players, and I have no problems with randakars system and can run this without owning the game...I will take a shot at gming. I would like to see someone sign up as a non-cavil cylon leader though if that isn't asking too much.:)

Wow, we won! Human race proved its superiority!

Thanks people for participating, and a special thanks to Randakar for the most excellent GMing!

I'd like to be in the next one if possible.

When will the next one be set up? I would like to be in it.

It seems Jacob will be our next GM.
As there are 4 declared interested players, we might get a full 7 player game :)

I cannot even pretend to start to prepare until randakar shows up and GM-resources me up. Although people can pretend to be interested here to get an idea of total number interested. A form of pre-sign up...sign up in this thread. ;)
