congrats humans :(

That's it! Humans jump to victory with the skin of their teeth.

Humans:
sbr
Galle
Acesand8s1003

Cylons:
HisMajestyBOB
jacob-lundgren

End resources:
Fuel 4
Food 3
Morale 1
Population 1

This was very close. The last crisis card would have been an unescapable defeat for the humans had the inspiring speech not worked.

Also, as some had suspected, yes, we had no cylons until the sleeper phase. In light of this the cylons should be happy they managed to get it this close.

Nice game, everyone.

It's ironic that a crisis card really saved our butts, the one that let us make the admiral the president/God-Emperor.

Indeed. Though the important things was that the presidency was moved to an active un-brigged player, not necessarily me.

I have no idea how we won this, I have been sure for weeks now that we could never win.

Good game Galle and Acesand8s1003, and thank you for a very fun game Artell. As for the Cylons, you can suck it. :D

I'm astonished this started on August 1st, I didn't think it'd gone on for that long. My original hope was for the game to last a month, luckily I had no other commitments. I did tarry with the updates sometimes, usually because I was away from home, but I have ideas to help with this kind of thing.

I will be opening a thread for signups sometime next week, most likely, I won't be taking signups or reservations until then.

Good game, guys! I wish I'd been able to be here for the pre-sleeper phase. Not to say maartos didn't do a good job - he did quite well, and I think he may have done better than me in the long run. He seems to be better at paying attention to various rules and strategies than me.

I can identify two big mistakes I made in the game: one, not using my auto-resolve ability on the skill check that would have sent the Admiral to the Brig. Might not have actually had much of an effect, perhaps, but would have been better than what I did use it on. I had just forgotten I had that abililty.

Second, I should have revealed when I was out of the brig. And if I knew there was a damn "Go Directly to Jail" quorum card, I would have, too.

Anyway, good game, guys. I may be interested in Game 2, but I'll give others a chance to join up first.

Humans are overpowered :p

Initially after the sleeper phase, I thought there was no way the Cylons could win this. My accomplice revealed himself far too early, and the jump prep was advancing smoothly without any incident. Then luckily (for us) you had a bad stroke of crisis cards and things got better for the Cylons again. Still, not good enough.

Because things were going too smoothly for you humans initially, I decided not to be too subtle about being a Cylon. Boomer is probably the char who should care least whether she is thrown in the brig or not, she has many means to damage the fleet from within Galactica. Cards like Strategic Planning and Evasive Maneuvers, for instance, can be used to the benefit of Cylon attack ships. Scouts can be played on the crisis deck, in addition to premonition. The brig skill checks can drain cards of players who want to keep me in there, and then to brig me again should I escape. Etcetera.
I didn't want to be totally open about it either initially, but just stir up controversy that would waste fleet resources and attract attention away from the other Cylon, who could then operate more subtly. Specifically one of my aims was to let Baltar use the Cylon detector on me so he couldn't use it on the other Cylon afterwards. But well, that plan failed almost completely when Tyrol out of the blue revealed himself. I really didn't like that, Jacob

And then Bob took over. I haven't followed his actions up to the details, but I would probably have kept the char ability until a really decisive moment instead of preloading it. Anyways, nice game all and congrats to the humans :)

That's one issue with the game via the internet - if I have to ask Boomer for confirmation on her ability every single crisis card, will that bog the progress of the game down? Bob in this case specified what criteria the crisis card should meet for him to auto-fail it, for example.

I've even seen games where people can play skill cards to a check in any player order they like. Preloading serves the same function but gives less information away.

If I had not outed myself the game would have ended with an even easier human victory. My card types were not good ones to use to sabotage checks and my constant keeping of Galle in the brig and super crisis helped slow the humans down. Hidden cylons only works if they have some real power, we had none and there are some VERY good super crisis cards.

At least a brigged boomer has card manipulation powers, all I could do without giving myself away was play poorly since if a bunch of blue cards start showing up, I would be brigged fast.

I was very suspicious of you right before you revealed yourself based on the cards that were coming on the skill checks; I was getting ready to have someone brig you but you got away in time. I am pretty sure I even mentioned that in the thread at the time.

I do think Boomer should have revealed earlier, yeah. A super crisis probably would have killed us.

I think a regular crisis would have killed us there at he end, much less a Super Crisis.

Now that the situation has been resolved I would like to hand the President title back to you Dr. Baltar. /Cincinnatus

Haha.

Boomer's super crisis card was Bomb on Colonial One. It's a tough tactics/engineering/piloting check (15+ I don't have the card here now) that disables the Colonial One locations, sends everyone there to Sickbay and drops morale by two. That might have hosed you already earlier on, although the cylons would have been ill equipped to sabotage it.

I might be getting the expansion pack, Pegasus, next month, should I wait until then? Or would people rather play more of the base game for now?
If the new work you did and some more experience in players can streamline this game it might be best to run a game now to get somewhat of an experienced player base before adding the expansion? We could run a slightly shortened game now, are there rules online for a distance 6 instead of distance 8 game?

bump?
