This inspired me to seek out the forbidden knowledge of the secret Steam achievements and grab a load last night - was fun! Perhaps surfacing their requirements as a weekly challenge would be a half-decent idea.

This sounds like FUN and something that should be brought to the attentions of @emmasterakia and @MissDelian! (Though as I understand it Emma is unavailable for the best of all reasons. My daughters and my prayers and best of wishes are with her and hers at this time. :bow: )

As a matter of fact, it should like so much fun I'll include a "take" on it for the 19-hours remaining to the current BATTLETECH Friday Night Fights EVENT. : )

Not yet. Rest of November will be much focus on Flashpoint, but the challenges will continue after that!
 
While I fully support our ability to discuss and debate all manner of BATTLETECH topic, "Voting" takes this too far in my opinion.

HBS has been quite clear that there is no Game Development by Committee for BATTLETECH, and I quite support that idea.

Maybe 'voting' was not the best word to use, I simply wanted to refer to HBS's responsiveness to feature requests from the playerbase - lots of people were frustrated by the inability to drag and drop mechs in the hangar for example. HBS heard that and bundled a fix in to a patch when they could.

If enough people want this feature to be added, and let HBS know, there's a chance it could make it in to the game. It is of course Mitch's prerogative to say 'No' to any feature request, and I'm not suggesting otherwise.

Agreed, it _does_ sound like fun!
 
So the reason why I came up with this challenge was to showcase what lights can do. It forces players to use the initiative system to their advantage or die to a lucky AC/20 shot. Hopefully this little exercise educated a few newer players on the basics of initiative manipulation. :)

@Krelp - Holy crap. 9 turns is pretty ridiculous. Excellent job!
 
2 or 3 turns is possible if you just run at it firing all the weapons you have.

The odds of success are:
1.23% chance of headshot with the Mlaser.
2.3% chance of a headshot with both of the machine guns (approx).

This gives you a:
3.50171% chance of both or ether events occuring.

You need this to happen 3 times in a row, to succeed in the shortest possible time. The odds are:
0.000429%

You have an additional:
0.675% chance of success for every additional turn both mechs are alive and firing. (this is added to the number above, if that makes sense to you).

This math was complex and I can't gaurentee it's 100% accurate, but the reasoning is sound :).

Not a very good result for my first try, 22 turns, but I played very conservative and the King Crab only got a couple of long range LL shots off, didn't get a scratch on the Locusts
