ENGAGE CELEBRATORY SUBROUTINES

Can’t wait for Beard-off 2! : )

Okay so last night I upped my pledge to "Star Colonel" and now I have a problem. Well, two problems, because funding it was made easier with a small bonus amount left over I could roll over to help out with.

Problem #1: So I get 12 pack choices. I'm short seven for a full set, but there's no way I plan on using add-ons for those. Need to figure out which ones are the best to grab for right now... or at least which ones get me what I want.

Problem #2: I get a canon character. Singular. So who do I canonize? Should I submit someone from Priam Company, sell the slot to my brother for his character, or should I make use of the new "It's canon now!" Aurigan Reach and canonize my commander from the video game? So much to think on...

Yea, I'm at a rather minimal pledge amount right now, as I can't decide how to allocate $s.

I'm an IS fanatic, so I'd do the 9 IS packs and 2 ComStar packs, plus I guess the Clan Heavy Star for Behemoth and IIC mechs. (I'd go crazy trying to decide on just 1 duplicate of the other 11 packs.) That also means a net total of 11 salvage boxes of random Clan mechs. (Hopefully they avoid duplicates where possible... be annoying to get like 5 of one mech in salvage boxes...)

If Priam Company was mine, I wouldn't be able to pick just 1 character to make canon. So I'd either choose my character from the HBS game or let my brother canonize his character...

Oh I already told him if he tosses me the money, I'd add his commander :)

I dislike random chance products like these salvage boxes, so adding Legendary MechWarrior salvage boxes would compound my frustration...

If they really want to split the 4 pack, can't they just do individuals like the UrbanMech?

Sigh

What "Legendary MechWarrior" salvage boxes? Far as I can tell from reading, those boxes are just a random 'Mech from the Clan lineup, to bring the IS Lance Packs up to 5 'Mechs

We need the Beard-Off rematch, this time with 50% less Zac Eubanks.

And . . . much as I dislike quoting myself, too . . . we also now get "the Beard-Off rematch". Since Mr. Eubanks isn't there, can we get Mr. Shimkus to officiate? :)

Sorry, I should have started that be referencing the new 2.5mil stretch goal. For exact details, jump over to Kickstarter, but everyone pledging $50+, including lower pledges with $50+ in add-ons, gets a random Legendary MechWarrior of the 4 in a new Legendary MechWarrior Pack ($25 add-on).

Interesting. I don't know if we'll hit it, but . . . "blind boxes" are one of those things which are a little frustrating to me as well. The benefit of the normal "Salvage Boxes" are how they're (nominally) not weighted by rarity. The new set of four, I'd really like for there to be a guaranteed "get all four" add-on purchase. I'd love to have them, but my brother is already ball-busting about "so don't you already have like 50 pounds of plastic minis you don't use because you painted the metal ones?" :)

Haha. Well, you can buy all 4 for $25. Plus they'll be giving most people a random one... But people can't choose to get like Kell for free and then go and buy Kerensky or something similar.

I am flat out putting myself into the universe. I've missed my chance for it twice already and there will not be a third time.

As I understand, the legendary pack with all 4 mechs is going to be purchasable as an addon(if we hit the goal). The salvage box is just an extra freebie they're tossing in.

The regular salvage boxes are there to make sure anyone who gets mech packs as part of their pledge level gets the same value regardless of whether or not they take clan or IS boxes. Again, the 2 some pledges get are just an extra freebie they're tossing in. They probably made them an addon knowing there would be some people who would want them. And if no one does, then no harm done.

Yea, and I completely understand the original salvage box and think it was a great idea. I just don't think doing something similar for the Legendary Mechwarriors is a good idea.

I'd rather they be another pack that is treated the same as the other packs, so could be chosen as a reward pack with the pledges. At the $25 price is fine, which would mean treating them like a Clan Pack (so no extra regular salvage box). Instead, they appear to be an add-on only, and everyone gets a random 1 for free.

I know, I know... I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth... but I also want CGL to make the most money out of this, including the cost-to-value of the stuff they give away for free...

There are 24 hours to go. We are at $2,176,000. I won't be shocked if we actually do hit $2.5 mil. Yesterday I would have seen it as a stretch, but now... They added all kinds of additional add-on items, including maps and books. I increased my pledge another 50% just because of add-ons I want and an estimate of shipping. The final stretch goal seems possible to even probable. Watching this entire campaign has been a lot of fun.

8 hrs to go and they might hit the 2.5 mil final unlock and also making Battletech on of the top 50 highest backed games to have been in kickstarter.

I want crazy and picked up all the current version of the books I did not already have as the books are all free shipping.

Last chance people if you want to get in on the table top game or want to refresh your IWM range with plastics.

I talked with two of my FLGs last night and they said many are out of print and waiting on the next reprint. They claim that they have been selling out when they get them in lately.

Well . . . that's been business as usual for a while, from what I've seen. Catalyst doesn't seem to do large/many print runs for their physical books, making it difficult to get hands on it. This is somewhat coupled to things like the Intro Box being too good a deal as a source of miniatures, and having trouble with supply lines in the past. Presumably they started the Kickstarter with a remedy in mind so as not to get bitten by the same issues which plagued the recent released box sets.

If I didn't have the books in digital format, and prefer loading them onto a phone or laptop, I'd go right for the books myself.
