Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When doing an escort mission, once all the convoy vehicles have extracted, the game exits combat mode even if you are still engaging enemy units. It then gives your opponent a free turn to cool down, recover stability, etc, before reverting back to combat mode. I've attached a save game (just select done, the vehicles will extract, and the game will exit combat mode in spite of the enemy hunchback in plain view).

Something similar occurs when you eliminate all enemies in sensor range; the game immediately exits combat mode and goes to either your opponent's or your allies' turn; any remaining units of yours that haven't acted yet essentially miss a turn. This can led to your force becoming strung out, not getting a chance to cool down & recover stability, or being left behind by the convoy they're escorting. It would be much better if the combat round completed, giving every unit a chance to act, before exiting combat mode.
Have you tried verifying your files?
No
