I've been working on becoming the Greatest of Khans as Temujin quite a few times already since the new update. Turns out that taking on the whole steppe at the last step is a proper nightmare once you have an extended empire, due to how warfare works in the game. You can win every single battle, but they just keep on coming from four, five different directions to take one province here and there and you can't stretch yourself to every front without insane micro.

100% score from battles, but a measly -10% score from sieged provinces keeps you at a perpetual 90% progress until your army is whittled down to scraps over a decade-long world war. The tributaries are completely useless as allies, since they keep following you and fooling around, instead of trying to sweep up the enemies or take back captured provinces. I'm losing my patience attempting this in different ways... I've enjoyed this DLC so much, but Christ is warfare infuriating and holding back the potential of this game. CK 3 isn't built for massive wars with different fronts, cascading alliances, and the peace system is not great. Has anybody had a similar experience?

Almost the opposite experience. I've found that as the Gurkhan I can put my armies on automation, declare wars and just forget about them. Starts to feel a bit like an idle game.
In this situation, if a battle breaks out on the western side of the empire, the AI will automatically concentrate all its forces there; at that point, if a battle then occurs on the eastern side, the AI wouldn’t be able to handle it, right?

that was the reason being greatest khan was annoying at the start of ck3

every small neighbor just join the khan to avoid losing war

just stay under 100 province almost always feel better

Just fully occupy all their provinces and you'll get 100% WS from occupation. If theyre recapturing provinces, you need to chase their stacks better
