I think that you should add events, whereby a nation that lays down a capital ship should gain a belligerence.

My reasoning for this is the German/British naval comparison. If Germany had begun to build copius amounts of Battleships, Britainwould have seen it as any other nation would see a mass of divisions sitting on the border. The same would be true for Japan/America.

Infact, you could also make a similar event for stationing more than so many units on another nations border. Maybe an event which says 'They are preparing for war' And the options are go to war and gain a hawk move, match the deployment or leave it be and get a dove move.

What do you chaps think ?

Well, I think it's a really neat idea. The problem is that CORE already has problems with belligerence being way too high, and any event to add even more in the mix would really mess things up even more I think.

This really won't work, given the way the AI in particular reacts to various beliigerence levels, and the way it impacs game mechanics for trade and diplomacy, If this was different, this would be a workable idea.

What about an event driven Casus belli. I found it infuriating in the HSR mod that Germany could happily out produce the UK in terms of navy and not cause anything which would let the UK DoW them. I personally think that peace time re armament (the type which would allow Brazil to build and station many many troops on the Argy border incurs no wrath.

An event tree to deal with this would be huge but ultimately make it worth while in my opinion.

I'd say that's mainly caused by the main purpose of HSR than anything else - creating a strong enough Germany which would win the war 9 times out of 10... We attempt to actually model the real situation instead.

In CORE we do have certain casus bellis, mainly based on mid-war politics and Hitler's political gambles. As such I think we're pretty well covered for now. You're welcome to suggest additions though.

I don't agree. Britain never saw a threat in the German surface navy. In fact, historically, it never stood a chance. (Despite the myth around Bismark, she wasn't nearly as powerful as her British counterparts - In fact she was the last pre-Jutland BB ever build, decades after all other countries had abandoned that design).
If anything should spark a war between Britain and Germany, it should be German submarine production.
