Early 1700-s, playing as Brandenburg, I finally build up the courage (and armies) to take those three polish provinces I want (you know - the one with the nice little shields on them...):)

I have several good generals, two of them with siege bonus. I meet little resistance and start the sieges in Silesia (one siege-general), western Prussia and Danzig (second siege-general). All provinces have strong fortresses (second strongest level). At Danzig I am told the siege may last for years...

I take Silesia and move the siege-expert north to western Prussia. WP also fall, still no sign of weakness att Danzig! After a 7 year siege I get gored and accept the three provinces PL offer me and withdraw from Danzig.

What am I doing wrong???? the two siege-generals both had i bonus of 1. One of them capture two mighty forts in three-four years, while the other cannot make a skratch in Danzigs walls??? Is it the fact that Danzig is a bigger city? Have access to the sea? I dunno...

well, you have to have chance with you too in a siege. If you a have a save just before the sieges please load it and try your chance again, this time you may capture Danzig first.. Oh, and I think crossing a river with artillery and then starting a siege doesn't help neither.. good luck

Ah, well - I'll try again later then... (If I can avoid being crushed by France in the near future- they look waay to big for me...)

Use 300 artillery per siege.. that will end it within a few years. It is generally impossible to take a large fort without a seige genius, 3 or 4 siege value.

Yes, unless you blockade their port with ships they can send in supplies to their city while you sit outside sieging in vain.

Anyway, more cannons might still help (depending on how many you brought the first time, for a lvl5 fortress bring 150+ cannons, check my FAQ for why btw... =)

All right... I'll bring more guns next time... Big guns...
