So what are the best mods to play? I've heard of the one for the Khazars which sounds good.

Which one adds the most difficulty? Which one is most like AGCEEP?

And which ones should you always get to make things more convenient? (like one I heard of which lines up marriageable women to keep you from having to go through tons of windows)

There are several types of mods

1. There are mods that change almost all the moddable files. There are two of those, TASS and DVIP. You find them stickied at the top of this page.

There two mods aren't compatible since they have modded the same files, just in a different matter.

There also is a spin-off of the TASS-mod, which is the Before the Conquest mod. You can find a link to it in my signature. This mod has a modified map and only has two scenarios.

2. There are event mods, like
BOPACK
SMACK

And there are other smaller ones, most of the event mods are also incorporated in the mods listed under number 1.

3. There are graphic mods, these are the ones I use
Coat of Arms

Traits

Shieldframes

Various gfx

Gratianus Face-mod

Alternative events/actions artwork

Assorted Medieval Graphics

4. Sound mods
IamWhoa's SFX 1.1

Which are the most popular/AGCEEP-like?

There is no AGCEEP-like mod, since the event-system of CK doesn't allow the kinds of historical events that are in AGCEEP.

What most people do who play TASS or DVIP is to make 2 (or in fact 3 installations of CK).

1. Unmodded version
2. One CK+DV+TASS
3. One CK+DV+DVIP
