i tried havign them on the land. then tried putting them on the edges of the rivers. and having them connected to the pipes the town uses. for power i used the wind power so i didnt need a train of power lines.

If you have the Green Cities DLC you'll be able to unlock cleaner versions of the regular outlets (I forget what they're called) and floating thingummies that clean the water.

In the meantime, you've obviously seen how they work, so you just need to make sure that your sewage outflow doesn't get anywhere near your water pumps.

Xbox series x/PS4
If you have waste water coming out you must be using either the Water Drain Pipe or the Eco Water Outlet from Green Cities.
* An improvement over those would be the Water Treatment Plant or Eco Water Treatment Plant from Green Cities.
* In my opinion better options are the Inland Water Treatment Plant and the Advanced Water Treatment Plant.
*And the best options from Green Cities DLC are Eco Inland Water Treatment Plant with the absolute best being the Eco Advanced Inland Water Treatment Plant. The Eco Advanced has a very low pollution level of 7.
*Be sure to Use the Policy under City Planning to Filter Industrial Waste for essentially 0 pollution levels.
Your cities will look much better without so much ugly ground polutuon.

how about if i use these Inland Water Treatment Plant and the Advanced Water Treatment Plant. on my game? and place them on the river edge?
Inland plants don't have to be at the water's edge. The clue is in the name.

i dont know about polution levels. but where do i place the inland water treatment plants g? in the industrial?
That sounds like a better place than in the middle of houses.

I too would avoid the residential areas. Mixed with your Industry is fine as they pollute also. I often build a little area with water treatment, garbage and power plants mixed together in a visually pleasing way. You might mix bus or taxi depots, road maintenance buildings, and perhaps police, fire and medical buildings. You can zone offices and commercial nearby as they do not complain about the polution. Be sure not to place them near any Water Towers or you will make citizens sick. Every city I build is different so have fun.

Ground pollution can spread a half block to maybe 2 or 3 blocks, depending on the building.

But you don't need to worry about ground pollution for commerce/industry as only residential is affected by pollution.

So just keep pollution out residential and you will be fine.

does anyone count those for anything that happens in the game?
For ground pollution around industry, most people just add buffer buildings. Parks (add happiness), add trees to reduce pollution, and my favorite, is to zone a bunch of offices, as they don't make pollution and provide more jobs. But it is a lower rate (1.5:1 instead of 2:1), but need higher educated workers on average.
