When ever I exited EU2 from the main menu, I use get a big black box in the upper left corner of the screen. I have Windows ME, version 1.8 (but I had this pre pachted anyway), and I got the game from COTN. The game is set to 800x600, and 1020x768 in normal mode. The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce Ti 200. the only time this doesn't happen is when I crash, the black box isn't there (usually)

Please help

My standard advice, found in almost every thread here:
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.

ME has always been troublesome. If the above doesn't help, check for video driver updates, and make sure you are on Directx 9.0c (or whatever the latest version supported on ME is).

Thanks for the help, the video driver update slove the problem of the black box. :) but now the game keeps flashing, and there disordered lines across the screen!

Make sure you are still following my standard advice.

Usually flashing is caused by another program running in the back ground.
Could also be cause by your refresh rate, so you may want to adjust that as well.

I try the stanrdard advice, but that didn't work. How would I change the refresh rate, and to what?

Right click on desk top - Select "properties" - Select "settings" - Select "advanced" - select "Monitor" - you should then see your refresh rate. set it at 85, see how that is. (as long as your monitor can handle 85).
