Bismarck could not engage an Iowa class battleship and hope to win,

The Bismark would destroy all five without taking a sweat in 1941, it might run out of ammo but thats it !!!!!!!

It could not destroy the Illinois however. ONLY the Tirpitz could do that, not the Bismark.
 
Even so, one on one versus Bismarck, Iowa is two generations more advanced with phenomenal radar controlled guns which would pound it beneath the waves.

Check the comment of Graf... so imagine a 1:1 contest between Bismarck and USS Iowa using their real wold state.

Yes. In 1941, Bismark could shell the naval shipyards where the Iowa's keels were laid all day long without fear of reprisal from the ships themselves. This is very true. Not sure why this would happen, but it could have happened. Kinda.

It was however also a statement that Sunforged compared existing battleships to ships under construction.
