Hi,

I just installed my EU2. No patches, a fresh install, and well..it won't play. Most importantly, clicking the icon just gives a black screen..and it sits there. It also a brand new CD, no scratches or anything. I figured the CD might have been defective, so I was able to recieve another from the company..same thing. A black screen. I am forced to Ctrl+Alt+Delete out of the game. :/

I am running basic EU, I am assuming 1.00.

My OS is Microsoft XP Home Edition.

Computer would be a Dell Diminsion 3000, x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel, with 2793 Mhz.

I have 512 RAM.

Videocard is a Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller, 96MB, with driver version 6.14.0010.4396.

Soundcard is SoundMAX Digital Audio, with driver version 5.12.0001.5211.

DirectX is 9.0, version 4.09.0000.0904.

And I think that's all the sticky asks for.

Thanks. :)

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.
