I used to run EU II on my old AMD K6 with windows 98. I recently installed EU II on the PC of my wife whu uses Win2000. But when I try to start the game, it only gives a black screen. :(

By the way, I renamed tha avi file to avi_back.

Courtesy of Castellon, who is otherwise engaged right now:

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.

I've had no problems running EU2 on Win2k (even without upgrading the included DirectX 7.0). If Castellon's checklist doesn't solve it, post what resolution you are trying to run the game at and your hardware specs. A DXDiag output would also probably be useful.
