I made a start up file for myself and I like to share with everyone
This blender file use GLSL in viewport to mimic how your model will most likely look inside the game.

with a human model to check scale of your building model, also a simple 8x8 grid to help buid your 1x1 grid building for CS on Layer 1(press 1 on top of Q button)
rotate "Sun_setup" to change your sun direction

with a simple 8x8 units square with a "tile size" property you can dial to change to size of the plane to help guide you on Layer 2(press 2)

with a sample building I use to test the material shader on viewport that mimic almost exactly like how it would look inside CS (press 3)

If you build your own building start with this, you only have to assign your model with the "default" material and change the diffuse, alpha, normal, illumination, color variation, specular map to your own.

Make sure you combine your models with ctrl+j to make a single object of your model.
Then select your model and export.
make sure you checked "selected objects" and dial "scale" to 100

This will ensure that export should be successfully.
