Blink Video No Work

The only way I can start EU2 is to click on the desktop icon, (screen goes black and nothing happens) hit Cnt,Alt,Del to get the task box, then select blink.exe and select "end task". Then the Paradox logo will appear and I can hit Esc and go to the game. Anyone else seen this?

Except my problem is much worse. I can't even get into a game!
No matter which icon I push and click, argggg black screen and more of it!

I'm contemplating about formatting my computer...

I am aware of the problem, but so far, I lack details to post something about it.

It would help us if you were to come to the support forum and be willing to try a few things.

I don't have the retail version (that means no binkplayer) and I haven't XP yet, so it's hard for me right now. If I can narrow the list down, I can submit a bug report and Johan will look into it.

Of the 3 'Strategy First' titles I have, each plays their video
file with Bink Video and each has a different way of skipping it.

1> hit space bar
2> click mouse
3> hit esc (EU2)

The problem in case #3 is that 'space bar' pauses or locks up
the video. I think it has something to do with the way that
the video player is invoked (run the video player by itself and
look at all of the options).

to avoid all this work around, rename your AVI folder (folder in your EU2 directory) to AVI_BCK thast should do it.

That did it! The program loads MUCH faster!

Now, do you know how to tell the program who I am? All references to my state say Austria:WVWYT. Any way to make it refer to it as Austria:Maddie?

Thanks Nabil - good job as usual

OK - to tell the program who you are:-

Go to the Multiplayer option (dont worry - you aint going to play!)
It will ask for your name.
Type it in.
Now exit back to single player and, voila. the name you typed in will appear!
