blinking display

My game runs fine but every so often, the display blinks.

It gets really annoying after a while ... please help...

Here are my specs:

game: HOI 2 (patch v1.3a)

Windows XP
processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200
RAM: 1GB

vid card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT (512mb)
driver date: Jan. 14, 2009
driver version: 6.14.11.8122

monitor: Samsung 2232GW

Turn off all instant messanger programs, file sharing applications etc.

tried closing every other running applications including those in the notifications icon tray.

It didn't seem to help.

I have the same problem but before I install Doomsday it wasn't blinking.Uninstall and reinstall dont work... its blinking again.
Edit: I just stop the Counter-Strike server and it the blinking was gone
