Hi, my EU has suddenyly stopped working. I get to load it up fine, but as soon as I try to open up a new game it craches to desktop.
I get an error message as soon as the title sequence starts saying that the Blink player is having problems and will have to close, so I click on that and it seems to continue OK to the menu screen.
I was running the latest beta with no problem one minute, exited the game and suddenly started having this problem when I loaded it up again a few hours later.
I seem to be able to get round it now by running the game in 16 bit instead of 32, which seemed fine until I started having this problem. (I've only tried with the original disk (1.04).
I'm running XP, have 1.7 gigs and 512 RAM so I should be OK. I upgraded my graphics card a couple of weeks ago, but until last night was playing EU fine. The problem occured Ifter I tried to install a friend's dodgey copy of Medieval Total War (dodgey in that the disk turned out to be badly scratched, not obtained from dodgey sources) which caused my PC to freeze/crash becuase the scratch prevented it installing.
If the only way I can play is resorting to 16bit that's fine, but I'd be grateful if someone would confirm that this is the problem. If it is, would I be better off leaving my PC on 16 BIT, or would it be OK to run it on 32 BIT and just change to 16 when I play EU - or would the constant changing cause my PC problems?
Thanks
Andrew
