Hi,

I am having similar issues to other folks. I start the game up and though it loads OK once I get into the menu system everything very quickly becomes discolored, blob-like, and unusable. Then the whole thing freezes up and the machine requires a hardboot. Im running a Dell 720 XPS with an nVidia 8800 GT video card on Windows XP. All drivers have been updated. DXDiag below.

Thanks for your help!

You need to:
  • Update the drivers.
  • Make sure you have the latest DX9.0c installed.
Also, can you play other 3D-accelerated games?

I have updated the drivers and have the latest DX9.0c installed. An yes, I can play games like Crysis with nearly maxed out graphics.

According to the DxDaig you posted the driver you have dates from the 12th of May 2007, a quick look on the Nvidia site gives the latest driver date as the 19th of Decemeber 2007. So it looks like the driver update hasn't gone through correctly. You may want to try again.

Thanks for responding, King. I actually think that date means December 5 2007 (at least if it is using the format we tend to use in the states), but regardless, I went and installed the December 19th version that you mentioned (pretty sure it was the same one I had though). I managed to play the game for about an hour, but then it went back to the black blobby things again (text goes all black and unreadable). Seems to be rather random and unrelated to any particular event or behavior in the game. This time around I was just clicking on a provice to install a governor, but overall there is no pattern. The same thing happened with the demo, but that was after about 10 hours of play. So, problem still persists. For what its worth I was having a blast during the hour I did get to play - you guys put together a great game. Would love to get this straightened out so I could play it as it was intended.

I have the similar problem. After an hour the srceen begins to flicker, text randomly dissappears and strange lines begin to appear all over the screen. I have a 7900 GT GC with latest drivers and 9.0c installed. I'll try with different video settings (no AA, lower resolution) and poste the results

Would be nice if we could pinpoint this as it seems a number of people are experiencing the problem. I have tested at both lower and high resolutions, as well as with and without audio. Problem persists regardless. Havent tested AA yet, so I look forward to seeing if you find anything different.

I have a solution, namely I disabled an AA and changed refresh rate from 60 to 72hz. I doubt that AA has anything to do with it though, I believe that the refresh rate is the cause of the problem. So try changing the refresh rate, works like a charm

edit: it doesn't work. After an hour everything is the same, map is unreadable and full of glitches

Was just about to post the same - mine only lasted about 7 minutes before going nuts.

Well now I tried lowering the resolution to 1024*768. The game worked without glitches for about an hour but then crashed  Obviously it is buggy as hell

sounds like a overheating videocard to me...

My config is:
Athlon64 3200+
1gig Ram
Gforce 6600GT 128M nvidia driver: 94.24 (4/19/2007)

And the game works fine (apart from the stuttering map when moving far across, certainly due to low videocard memory).

I have no problem on a number of other more graphically intensive games - I dont have any reason to think its due to overheating. Also, I have had this this happen 30 seconds after starting the program - not much time to overheat.

I tried with 1024*786,so far no problems...

I just tried at 1024*768 and it wasnt 10 minutes before the map went haywire. One thing I did notice - there seems to be a sudden slowdown in the game prior to the map going screwy. The mouse cursor pretty much freezes and cant be moved for a couple of seconds, then everything starts moving again and the map is messed up. Sometimes you can still play a bit after the map goes haywire and other times the whole game just goes frozen.

I had this problem initially (using a Geforce 8800 GTX, with 169.18 forceware and the August 07 DX9c redist) but updating to the 169.21 forceware release and the March 08 DX9c redist seems to have fixed it. We'll see if this holds true. :)

I am running an 8800 GT and have the same forceware and DX releases as you do - issue still persists, although it may have been slightly improved after updating the forceware and DX. Initially I couldnt get past the date selection screen without the map going nutty. Now I can play the game for roughly 5-30 minutes before it goes bad.

Hello guys, it does sound a lot like a overheat problem, but I believe you if you say its not. What other games have you tried on? The Crysis demo might be a good one.

You can try nvidias latest beta drivers and see if there is a difference if you feel adventurous. Go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and scroll down and click on Beta and Archived Drivers and find the latest beta one for your card.
