Wow, the forum's just swimming in Irish AARs now :D It's so fun to look at the differences between them, where one AAR has a guy becoming king, a different one has the same guy on the run from his liege :D

Keep up the good work, frogbeastegg, this is very funny. :)

5678, you've heard of me? Oh gosh! Yes, I'm the same frogbeastegg as the moderator/writer on the org.

Thanks Morpheus506, I can't promise the story will stay funny since events in the game dictate some tragic events, but I will try to keep some humour where I can.

And now onto the next part!

Excellent AAR! Like a strangely large number of others, I'm also playing Ireland so I find this AAR particularly interesting. :)

Thank you very much, Varyar. I had noticed the existence of another Irish AAR when I came to post this, and when I looked down the list more carefully I saw more and more of them. I only started playing Ireland because it looked small enough to escape heavy crusade expectations, and uniting the dukedoms as king of Ireland promised to be interesting. When I started writing this I thought no one else would be doing an Irish story, fortunately I seem to be the only one writing about Culad as a 'hero'.

I haven't read any of the other Irish AARs yet, since I want to be sure that the ideas that end up in this story are mine, and not half remembered from somewhere else. I would definitely not want to steal ideas, even by accident. I will be reading them as soon as I have finished writing this.

Now for the next part:

Actually I enjoyed the fight part :) Haven't seen many of those at all in AAR's. Another good episode!

Its cause now the Irish can fight.

Well good job frogbeastegg, thats a wierd name :)

Again thank you all for the comments :) They are greatly appreciated.

Mr.G 24 my name comes from a game called Thief: The Dark Project, there is a creature in it called the frog beast and they can occasionally be found in eggs. I find frog beasts to be quite amusing (exploding frogs, anyone?) and when I was looking for a name to use on another forum I ended up flicking through the Thief book, only for it to open at the frog beast egg page. I just ran it all together and the end result is surprising catchy and versatile.

And so the next part, I must admit to being surprised at how quickly I am writing this.

Some friendly advice.

Try to break up the text a bit. It is much easier to read that way. You might also try not to post the updates too speedily since that might deter potential readers that will not be able to keep up with you.

Apart from these comments I think the story is very good. Keep posting :)

Thank you Judge. :)

So I am one of the few who prefers to read a story as quickly as possible, without needing to wait too long between updates? Well the appearance of new chapters will slow down slightly now anyway, since this is becoming harder to write. I should be able to keep to one chapter a day, if I write more than that I can simply not post it until the next day.

I must admit posting too much too quickly is not a problem I have had before - guides I post in one big dollop when they are complete, and my other story averages two updates totalling about 17 a month

Layout is a larger problem, this story is being written in MS Word, posted here and on another forum, and from time to time also ends up in email. I need a format that works for all of those. The book style layout I am currently using works reliably across all those formats and is a style I personally find easier to read than the heavily spaced out types. However I am very open to suggestions that will work...would increasing the font size help? I can code that specifically for this version of the story very quickly and if it helps I would be happy to do so.

Skillfully written and I am enjoying the story. You certainly update far faster than I can. Uniting and wielding Ireland is a fun task to set, which might explain the abundance of AARs concerning the emerald isle.

Good to see another Thief fan as well...I love the sound the frog beasts make when they jump at a strolling guard. "chiiiirp! splash!" Can't wait for the third even though Looking Glass is gone, but not forgotten.

Well, the larger font unfortunately doesn't really help - it may take longer, but perhaps after pasting the piece into the Paradox post, perhaps simply run through and add a few more spaces, say every fourth or fifth line. Just makes it easier on the eyes, especially with dialogue. I admit, I write in Word, spacing as I go and have no issue when pasting into Paradox, but then I don't have to bother with e-mails or other issues that might mess things up after the fact.

As for the story, I really like it. I especially like the relationship you have built between Culad and Margaret. I sense there is more passion there than both would like to admit. Let us hope they end up drunk one night and forget their inhibitions. And your fight scenes seem very nice to me. It's always something I have a difficult time writing so I enjoy someone that is not afraid to give it a shot. Well done, all around.

Thank you both for your comments :)

Shaihulud are you the same Shaihulud who passes through totalwar.org from time to time?

And yes, Thief was a great game made by a company who innovated. Looking Glass Studios, gone but not forgotten. :(

coz1, the layout remains tricky. At least know I know the font does not help. I suppose I will have to space it out a bit more especially for this forum, which means making a special version just for here. That will, inevitably, slow posting down even more than this accursed battle scene I am in the midst of dealing with. I will see what I can achieve, starting in the next segment.

You are quite right about Culad and Margaret, it is rather obvious they do actually like each other a bit now. I don't know about them getting drunk though...

I will try to get the next part done in the next 24 hours. I am busy with a few unexpected things and also trying to read around the AAR forums a bit, commenting in return. Since I only just arrived I have an awful lot to catch up on.
