I would love to see a mode of play that removes fog war effects and allows full weapon and visibility ranges all the time. I'm an old school table top player and some times I just want to bash some mechs with out the added effects.

Well, the visibility ranges could be tweaked by adjusting the appropriate JSON files in the beta. Pretty sure the same will apply to the game in chief.

Just as @Bubbasan notes being able to remove the Fog of War is highly likely with a Mod.

If that is the limits of what you'll require in a "board game mod" I hazard to say that you will not be disappointed! :)

And welcome to the BATTLETECH forum!

In my signature block below you'll note a number of community links to some quite excellent BATTLETECH resources.

I hope you enjoy your time here. And as ever, good luck and good gaming!

Here are some things you will need to adjust in addition to LoS:

  • Phases, all to Phase 1
  • Grid Distance: 30 from 24
  • Medium Range Modifier and weapons stats for med range.
  • Lower melee and DFA dmg
  • Remove Evasion stripping
There are a few others, but these are ones I know can be edited and worked without crashing.

Grid distance doesn't worry me since its all counting hexes, but the rest would bring it better in line. Although I do like the new phase system as it gives lights a better chance to survive and be productive members of the lance. LOS/fog of war bugs me to no end because of the distances involved. There is no missing an 80 ton 30 meter tall bipedal war machine at 200m or anything under 10~13 Kilometers for that matter. It bugs my military mind (22 years Army) to no end.

I beg to differ. Near were I live is a memorial of sorts, it's around 20m tall fairly broad, a good approximation of a scout mech. Due to both the intervening and background terrain, and the surrounding trees etc, once you get 1.5-2km out it blends in quite well. You don't need to go much further before you need it pointing out if you didn't know it was there, sure it could be seen but it's the finding it. It's invisible long before 10km.
Not everywhere is wide and open!

You mean 30 feet tall? 'Mechs are between 8m and maybe 14m tall - not 30m.
