In my game, China had a white peace with British in 1st opium war. And China wins 7 India provinces from British in 2nd opium war. Both wars trigger China's unfair treatys, such as Beijin Treaty.

Why should I sign unfair treaty in my capital if I wins lots of lands from the enemy?

I am playing Vic 1.03c.

I have the impression that if you accept British's proposal, you are considered lost, only if you propose to him for a gain, then it considered as victory

As far as I remember most triggers are on a won war or lost war- so any war lost will do. And sometimes white peaces count for a lost war, it's always better to win something.
