Hi,

I read "ANY crash read this first",
I had an error with running Rome but C++ libraries solved it (thanks for solutions on this forum) and now i have a new one - Blue Screen Of Death after loading screen. "Map properly initialized" and after that blue screen.
Before I reinstalled my WinXP game worked fine. I`m traing to play VV 2.1, my graphic card is geforce 8400 gs (is it helpful info?) and I`m using WinXP Pro.
I was trying the trick with deleted contents from MAP/CACHE - still the same problem.
Please help me find a solution.

here is dxdiag:

Can we see your settings.txt and system.log or system.txt files please.

Any reason why you're not using the 2.2 patch?

My last installation of EU:R isn`t patched yet because I was looking first for a soloution of a problem then for a newest version of a game. Sholud I install it now?

Edit the settings.txt and change refreshRate=0 to =60 . If that doesn't help, then yes applying 2.2 is the next step.

"Edit the settings.txt and change refreshRate=0 to =60" - done but doesn`t help. Also patch 2.2 wasn`t the solution - sometimes I`m able to run Rome but usually there is BSOD after "Map properly initialized". What`s the next step?

After installing 2.2 you should delete the files only in /map/cache/ again. If that doesn't help, I'm frankly puzzled; are you saying it works perfectly fine sometimes and crashes at load time? That's not a known problem of any sort. I'd suggest a complete reinstall.

First move any valued save games elsewhere. Then uninstall both games, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome - choose a new directory like c:\games\rome instead of the suggested path. Then download and install VV from Gamers Gate, and make 100% sure you point it to the same path the game installed into (eg c:\games\rome or whatever you used above) Then apply the 2.2 patch over Rome and VV, again in that same new directory.

BTW, can you register your copy of VV here please?

So it`s still doesn`t work. Everything was done as you describe. I give up playing Rome under WinXP, under Linux it works fine on my CPU.
Can`t register my copy of VV because I bought both games in the same box and there was just one serial number. It`s polish version of EUR and VV.
Anyway thanks for a support.
