Holding the Alliance window open on Spain as the game runs (With the cursor hovering over their ally Genoa) it says that their alliance expires in JAN 1526... then as the month runs it says FEB 1526... then MAR 1526...

Sheesh! I invested alot of money to get Spain but they are in a neverending alliance!

Suggestion: How about a note when EVERY alliance expires?

Not a Bug!

Alliances are extended automatically for 10 years if the allied nations go to war. Not sure if it's always 10 years, and there can be some variation if you make a separate peace but your alliance members keep fighting. This info is on page 38 (English ver) of the manual. Although this extension isn't explained real well.

You can find out more by searching on the forum. Hope this helps!

I dont understand

My own alliances always seems to end on a specific date, and the date never seems to change even though I'm in several wars. What determines the extension? Do you mean that there must be a current war going on during the expiration date?

Then there's still a bug, because I've had Alliances extended without any Peace. I'm certain it has to do when you query the Alliance in the Diplomacy window - the Alliance gets another 10 years tacked on from the current date; I've seen this perhaps half a dozen times.

Are you sure that none of your allies are at war, or one of them has had a revolt turn into a new nation.

Fairly sure, it's also just too much of a coincidence that about half the time I look at the Dip screen the expiration date for the alliance is EXACTLY 10 YEARS from the current month - it really looks like querying the Alliance expiration info changes the expiration. I can do some tests...

Check the savefile if there is an ongoing war with any of the nations in the alliance participating (it's at the beginning just after alliances).

If there is, then the game is working just as it should, extending the alliance 'EXACTLY 10 YEARS from the current month'.
If not, send the save game to Paradox with a bugreport.

Actually, I think the alliance is renewed for ten years if any *one* member of the alliance goes to war. I declared war and did not request aid from my allies... and still, the alliance was extended. Nice way to extend your alliance. :)

I use that one alot :D Very helpful if ur Russia. 10 years without war is a rare occurence then.
