Hello,
I have had numerous games with Britain and Austria in the Grand Campaign. I have had version 1.08 patch installed, HOWEVER when I want to play as portugal or muscowy in the 1419 grand campaign or any other non-scenario country, using the scenario editor, the game plays BUT on reaching Jan 30th or 31st the game always crashes to desktop. It never crashes otherwise, and there are no other bugs. I have installed AGCEEP mod as well, in order to play other nations BUT I don't like the fact that inflation goes up astronomically until 1700+ when you suddenly get inflation -5 events which reduce inflation almost permanently to zero. The AGCEEP mod doesn't allow event codes except for the historical ones, so it's not possible to later reduce inflation, and , unlike the original game, it has far fewer random inflation -5 events than normal. This means that when I play Muscowy, I have a great time up till 1600 when the ensuing inflation fouls up my game.
Any help with this bug would be appreciated!

Speaking of scenario bugs... the scenario editor won't recognize a 'flagname = ' command in a scenario, and will thus ignore the whole nation.

What changes did you make with the editor?

The "codes" are different because "codes" are just events and the mod uses a different set of events than vanilla EU2. Try event 960010 ("Exceptional Year") or event 960027 ("Deflation -10"). Look at AGCEEP\events\AGCEEP_Global_RandomEvents.eue to see other random events you can fire.

why would you need the editor to play Portugal or Muscowy

just right click one of the shields, and select the country you want from the dropdown...

Scenario editor

When I start the grand campaign, I only have Novgorod and a few other countries to choose from. Flags for Portugal or Muscowy aren't included at the top of the country selection, only in much later scenarios(1492+).Playing Byzantium or Novgorod doesn't exactly appeal, so I thought (wrongly) that the scenario editor was the only solution. Of course, I may have missed something mindblowingly obvious - any ideas as to how to play a minor country in vanilla EU2 are appreciated. Otherwise I'll probably have to wait until they get the bugs fixed in the AGCEEP mod.
Thanks

geoffpurcell, in EU2, under any scenario, including the Grand Campaign, right-click on any of the shields at the top of the screen for country selection. This will result in a pop-up showing a complete list of countries available for play in that scenario. Once you select the country you wish, you can then left click on its shield to actually select it for play.

You can also use this feature to change which countries EU2 tracks in the Ledger graphs. If you don't want to watch China amass a gazillion troops, while lagging at all the techs, right click on its shield and replace it with whatever country (Portugal, Scotland, Ak-Koyunlu, Kleves, etc.) you do want to see in the graphs.

Re: Scenario Bug

Hi again,
Thanks very much for the info. After the first message stating that I should right-click on the shields to select my preferred country, I did so and everything was fine. I really should have known better. It's just that I am so used to certain PC games where you use the left-click mouse button for almost every function, that I forgot to right-click. Anyway, I am playing an AGCEEP mod game for the moment, which is going well(since it's without the buggy September 5th beta patch), so it'll be some time before I get onto the EU2 vanilla version, but at least now I can play any damn country I want, no matter how small.
THANKS
