Hello Folks,

In my last few games (GC), I noticed several times that certain AI controlled Great Power received overnight a huge pool of mobilisable divisions out of nowhere, variing from 65 to 100.
Example:
In one hand off game, in august 1838, Austria suddenly had 100 Division in it's mobilisation pool and Russia had 65. Both started with 0.
Where does those divisions come from?
In the case of Austria I reduced it manually to 0 but when i checked it again a few years later, it was back at 100.
I checked the Events, the Ai and the invention files but couldn'd find any clear clue from where it could come from.

I am playing 1.02
CPU 2.2 Celeron
256 RAM
Windows XP

Hope anyone can help.
Thanks,

Lion7

Hmmmm. I don't know the answer to this, but just out of interest, what settings are you playing at?

yes AI can build reserves up, as fast as ye can say "NOO..." . I think that this is a neat feature for helping out AI and see no reason to remove it, because 1)ai never uses it when at war 2)it has 3 month deploy delay 3)it only uses it when at peace 4)it helps keeping AI land expenses down.

This seems to me at least partly a weird argument.
In one of the games i saw Russia which already had the strongest army (+/- 180 military score) just getting overnight 100 more divisions (score went up to 280).
I could also witness those country mobilising those reserve division on several occasion at the beginning of a war.
And relating to the 3 month pause, in my opinion it doesn't really matter because of the lenght of the wars.
Therefore I would say, that if this pool increase is intended (PLEASE CONFIRM THAT PARADOX), it's a very crude feature which seems to bee born out of despair to give the AI a helping hand. The AI should built up reserve, but please at the same cost and the same space as it's possible for the human player to do.
It is just frustrating when you are making plans for alliances or wars or just deciding on your expense priority based on the known forces of your neighbours or potential enemys, to see it crumble and be obliged to go into a frenzy military build up just because there has been a massive overnight increase of the force pool of your enemy and that at no cost for him.
For my taste it's just to unreal as a feature and should be removed. Better would be a smarter AI with a sound defence and military build-up policy.

PS: What did you mean by land expenses in your forth point?

Did you actually see 100 new divisions appearing in one go? Or are you basing this on the mil score only.

I ask this because the military score could increase rapidly due to re-inforcing of existing divisions. Or building more ships.

Plus I've never seen Russia with 280 divisions in version 1.02 except if it was right at the end of the GC

Are you playing with any mods?

In my current game Russia has over 450 divisions in 1880. :p The funny thing is: ONLY ABOUT 100 OF THOSE WERE RESERVES. RUSSIA WAS KEEPING 300 DIVISIONS ALIVE AT MAXIMUM UPKEEP. Jesus!

AI can increase their mob pool as much as they wan't. Some 90 divs is not an problem. Still i think that this AI enhancement shouldn't be removed!

An AI enhancement?? What? It a different rule for the AI then for the player, a cheat if you like, but hardly something which improves the AI itself...
Personally I always think that all AI cheats/rules/etc should be removed, but I'm probably in a minority...

anti_strunt: I agree with you that there should be no ai cheats(with perfect ai), but right now we are very far from that perfect ai.
And, btw this "Keeping large dvisions in reserve" ai logic error has found some signs of improvement with UMP ai files, thus meaning stronger economy for ai players even at the end of the game.

That was exactly what I tried to explain. 100 divisions just appearing in one go.
I checked it trough game saving and then starting again with this save file as russia just to check it's military and it's reserve pool.

By the way, I didn'd use any mad yet.
