I'm playing Russia and I declared war on Kazan. My allies offered to help (I thought I hit the decline button but that's another matter); anyway, Pskov sent troops and when the war was over their flag was changed to white but they never went home. I'm playing the Improved Grand Campaign II -- 1.8(?)

No, the AI at least has the sense to disband them before attrition gets them. Well, mostly, the fact the AI lets them get stuck there in the first place isn't a good sign already.

actually happened to me by mistake. I was Austria and batttling against France and Savoy. Got to Nice and took the province. Agreed with a peace with France for another province, so Nice returned to Savoy. d'oooohhh. Now my 30K army was stuck in Savoy with no way to get back home. I had to ferry them out using transport ships. That will teach me to negotiate peace treaties without ensuring a proper retreating way.

It's especially shitty if a general is stuck :D I was Flanders once and Ferdinand camped on my turf for a few decades after our war :D

Awfully long-lasting POW camp; btw, our POW's in China get to come home.
