Wondering if this is possible via the right click menu or some other way? I know you can deploy airbases to allies / puppet provinces, it would be nice if we could do the same with forts, industry and infrastructure. Is it just something in the misc.txt?

not sure, maybe maybe if you look at

db/building_costs.txt

theres eg:

landfort = {
buildable_in_allied_provinces = yes
cost = 5
buildtime = 1200
manpower = 0
size = 1
}

so land fort works

infra has another entry:

infra = {
buildable_in_allied_provinces = yes
only_buildable_in_provinces = yes
cost = 1
buildtime = 360
manpower = 0
size = 0.1
}

maybe make a backup and remove the "only_buildable_in_provinces = yes" ?

dont know if this works, if you find sth out please let me know.

This works! What it does is allow you to build infrastructure in your province build tab in the main production window and when completed deploy it to any province you like (including puppets and allies).

Now, it is realistic that a puppet master nation would come in and help a puppet nation develop its resources, especially if it was exploiting those resources. The problem is this rate auto sets as if you were building it in the plains type provinces (the shortest).

I wonder if it would be possible to make a duplicate entry named portable infrastructure or resource development that would default to something a little higher in time or cost since we cant develop the infra specifically in the province we want?

well thats cool indeed, i always released UKR very late because i thought i'll finish some infra first.

if i understand that correctly you can also modify these values in this file? i mean look at my previous post? just make it a bit more expensive.

in general i think the ability to sponsor your allies those buildings like infra, conversion factories are much more valuable than the difference in buildtime/-cost - well and creating new ones would also be good, IMO (like the new minister types is sth i really like, its OT but does anybody know if theres a limit in new minister traits?)

EDIT: strange i did this as well, infra in the queue (as UK). however i can eg give the infra to overseas provinces, even australia and some french colonies overseas like guayana. however lonely islands like cyprus, malta, and madagaskar, even british guayana are disabled. anyway a good find, Syntax!

Well generally speaking one of the game rules is that it is easier to build infra in a plains province (aka baku) than a hill province (aka svervledosk) which is in turn easier than building in a marsh province (aka molotov) or a mountain province (ie Tashkent).

This fix works, but it makes the rate set at what it would be to build only as if you were building in a plains type province. IE I could build up infra in a difficult province far faster using this method than I could if i build infra up the old way.

Still I think it is an element that is missing from the game, especially now that the game plays far past the original dates the engine was built for.

It sounds like those provinces have no supply stockpiles. You need supply stockpiles in order to build anything in provinces not connected to your capital. Set up a supply convoy to those provinces (making sure that a stockpile is actually created...it may be necessary to tamper with convoy settings a bit) and see if the problem continues.

What happens if you only change the value to "no" without removing the whole line? Does it still work?

Whilst I can see an argument for building improvements in puppet nations, I don't think they should be buildable in ally provinces. Allies are after all sovereign nations, despite the average HoI player's tendency to treat them as happily disposable minions.

(It's also gamey, the French are too silly to expand the maginot line, do it for them...)

Also, in Arsenal of Democracy the ability to parallel build IC and Infrastructure seems to have been removed on purpose because it could be exploited to raise province efficiency faster than it should be (a parallel build of 10 infra in Berlin would add nearly 6IC to the province for a third of the IC/time cost and no manpower cost) and to exploit the IC concentration effect by parallel dropping mass factories into a province.
