Byzantine saga problems (crash)

I have posted this message under the support thread for this scenario, but nobody replied. So, I start a new one.

I'm playing this scenario with the latest IGC (2.2c) and patch 1.09.

Now, I'm in 1569, I get a conquistador and I send him to conquer the Incas; unfortunately on the 1st january 1570, the game crash. I disabled the autosave feature, but it still crashes to the desktop. There seems to be an event happening and I think it's a new monarch; however, I'm not sure since it goes by very fast.

In my last IGC game, I couldn't accept peace with either SPain or Russia. So, prior to running this scenario, I completely uninstall every thing EU on my computer, and then reinstall EU, the patch, IGC 2.2c (I had 2.2) and the Bizantium scenario.

By looking at the leader's file, I noticed that it happens when a new leader by the name of Patriarch (forgot the rest) appears. I've reloader many games, one of wich was 20 years in the past and I still get the same result. No matter what I do. I've tried running the game at various speed, I tried not playing with the game, always the same. I have tried using the original Europa.EXE instead of the modified one, still the same.

Any suggestions?

Same event

It seems there is a bug in this scenario. When January 1st 1570 arrived, it seems to make my game crashed, whatever I do. Reloading a previously saved game wont change the result : at January 1st, 1570, the game will crashed.

By the way, I was planning to make an AAR with this game. I own the game since April, but I am really playing it only since a month or so. I always played so far with Genoa; it is my first time with an other country (Byzantine Empire) and both are similar, but the Byzantine are in a worst situation being strangle out by the mamouth called Ottoman Empire.

So far, the result of my little game impressed me so much that I will probably make his AAR. I was only trying it (the scenario) without taking seriously the result, and without cheating (I mean, in accepting big defeat) I managed to survived and prosper, due to banking and colonization.

So I hope this bug will be issue, letting me continue this excellent scenario.

I would like, by the way, thanks all the scenario maker who continously improved that already awesome game by offering us new gaming experience with their scenario. Thank you very much!

P.S. Sorry for all the mistakes I surely have done, I am french spreaking and doing my best to share my experience in english with all of you :)

I'm curently working on the events since a few people told me that the cause crashes. As you know I'm planing to make an update of the scenario, but before I do so I'm going to playing the scenario through so there would be no crashes.

THANK YOU! I just didn't know you were aware of the problem, nor was I aware you were planning an update in the near future. I know you are really busy, so I'm going to be patient :)

Marcus, tu devrais visiter le forum Europa France, nous sommes plusieurs Québécois là-dedans, et on pourra te répondre en français.

Of course, you are still welcome to post here; don't worry about any mistakes you can make, people don't really care about that. I think there's a majority a non-english speaker here in this forum. And everyone is friendly and helpful.

Thanks guys, its great to know that someone is playing and enjoying this scenario. Due to the fact the SCenario Depot has been displaying errors for the past month, the Byzantine Scenario Saga is only avaliable through my site and many people don't know of its exsistance. And since you both seem to enjoy the scenario I will hurry up and create the update as fast as I can. I'll post here when it will be avaliable(most probably friday).

Friday... damn! I'll have to stay here instead of going back to Montreal :D

Anyway, General, take your time, we do enjoy your scenario (and I think I'll try making some publicity for it in the French Forum) and we'll play it when it's ready, be it Friday or next week or the week after :)

My respect to you General Suvorov, Sire Viper37. :p

I have not much time, but I could help you figure out what is the problem with this scenario. Since I know a little bit in computer science :) , I could help. My only question is : what are the files I have to verify and to test to find an issue? I have already opened the leader file to find out there is a switch in 1570, so the bug is related to this event or an event associated with it. When you are doing your scenario, which files do you modify? (I have never done any game editing, so that is quite new for me, but I can give it a try).

Enjoying this awesome scenario is great, helping you could be even greater! :)
