Hmm, weather, earthquakes, volcanoes... interesting.

I'd say loss of 100 supplies instead though, seems a bit harsh to give a permanent IC reduction.

I think the major weather events can add some flavor to the game, as long as we don't simulate every tornado. :) The Dust Bowl and the Hurricane of '38 were pretty signficant. For "End of the Dust Bowl", I'd go with -1 or -2 dissent. For the hurricane, I'd go with adding in supples like Steel suggested, maybe removing a tiny bit of manpower

Prufrock, you going to code the events? I'll help if you need me to. I'm all for adding in as many American events as possible, major and flavor. :D

Years of drought and deep plowing had exposed the top soil of the fertile plains to high winds. Dust storms blanketed the states of the region, devastating farms, wreaking havoc on communities, and bringing further hardship to an already strained economy. By 1938, conditions had eased somewhat, and the worst of the storms had passed. The United States breathed a little easier.

By the time it was finished, 700 people were killed, 8,900 homes were destroyed, and around 63,000 people were made homeless. In all, over 2 billion trees were lost. The hurricane caused massive amounts of damage to a nervous economy, causing $6.2 million in damage ($15 billion 1998 dollars)."

I'd disagree about the dissent and say omit that: people didn't join the Bund over the government's inept response or anything like that. :D

And manpower -2 might be a lot closer to the real effect.

Otherwise, great stuff. Agree completely with the Dust Bowl.

True enough. I was thinking that people would generally be unhappy over the damage, and in times of crisis, unhappy people don't like the government. :D It's easily changed if need be. What do you think, Generalissimo sir?

Easy man - I hope he writes about Radio audition (event similar to Casablanca - no effect), not about Martian Invasion. :D

Well, the Orson Welles radio broadcast of the "War of the Worlds" is an interesting cultural/flavor event. Could it have a game effect at all? I can't think of anything off-hand. +1 dissent seems rash, same for even a 1 pt. shift to democracy or something. :) Of course, it bugs me as I feel events have to have at least a slight relevance to the game, even if they're there to help capture a "sense of the times".

Question...

With the CORE Beta 0.1 and the introduction of providing supplies to the UK. I did not see a supply line set up with this event. from what I understand these supply lines were in constant attack by the Germany U-boats.

Thoughts?

which event?
the "Lend-Lease Shipment to the UK"?
it just send "automatically" some resources to UK (the same happens with the event for the USSR)

they are Paradox® made events, we have nothing to do with them. :D

This was posted in GD forum, don't know if it would fit with existing events or if its historical.

4. In either event, by 1940, assuming a European war, the U.S. player should get an option to Federalize the National Guard, which should result in gaining 18 regular infantry divisions (leg and mech. ) with attached brigades to reflect the historical role of Coastal and Field Artillery Regiments in the U.S. Table of Organization. These divisions should be "free" without manpower or IC cost and should appear in clusters of 3 or 4 in the North, West, East South and Midwest.
