Yeah that message that pops up whenever you start the launcher (at least from Steam) won't go away. I've deleted the file in question that causes it twice already but it keeps reproducing itself. Is that an effect of the patches or is Steam auto-correcting it or what?
 
it usually happens when you have for some reason more then one version of c++ installed or when something is left over from previous installations. i would simply ignore it. it doesn't do any harm and correcting the problem is potentially dangerous. as long as your system is stable i wouldn't touch anything.
 
The fix for this is in the sticky "known issues" thread at the top of this very forum.
 
I actually figured out the source of the problem minutes after I posted this *facepalm*

The patches were regenerating the file and since I was only logging into the game again after each of them it appeared as if the file was simply self-regenerating. So, problem solved.
