Playing as Byzantine emperor I got branded as bastard. No idea why (maybe that's even truth- but considering the fact that I've been ruling for 20 years at this point...), I was very very popular so it was hardly a problem for me. I kept playing for few more years and game notifies me that my heir... Is not of my dynasty! What the... I've a son, second son and 2 daughters... Quick check, aaand I know what happened- my ruler founded new dynasty! Good for him, but I can't do anything at this point- aside from assasinating all my offspring and praying for new kids. Is this WAD?

How did you found a new dynasty? That's a decision you need to take...it doesn't just happen on its own.

Although...if you were a bastard, I believe you automatically create your own dynasty once you become a ruler, unless I'm mistaken. That's not even an event or something mod-related, that happens automatically. If you didn't start as a bastard, I'd be curious if you perhaps loaded an old save with the latest updates...that would change existing traits into something else.

Eh, damn... I did load indeed. My ruler died in some ridiculous way (save scumming IS dangerous :D) and my heir was hated (to be honest- no idea why. His stats were close to perfect...), so I rage quitted and loaded game. Nonetheless- I "founded" this new dynasty few years after loading game. No notification popped up, I just noticed that my ruler has heir of different dynasty.

BTW- If it works as You described, than it has potential of destroying gane nonetheless. It's enough that this bastard inherits realm, having descendants already. Those descendants won't follow their predecessor into "new" dynasty, thus leaving poor guy without heir of own dynasty...

There's nothing we can do about a bastard assuming a new dynasty upon becoming a ruler. That's hard-coded. Had it happened normally, however, I imagine you would have switched dynasty much earlier. Loading an old game and having your ruler gain the bastard trait when they weren't born that way isn't exactly how it normally happens, after all. (And keep in mind that this is specifically the one update to CK2Plus 4.0 which was save-incompatible -- normally we try to keep versions as compatible as possible.)

Cadet dynasties formed by decision automatically convert their children's dynasty, as well. But that's different from what happened to you.

Wait... I didn't update mod. I'm playing 4.0.1 all the time (which basically means for 2 or 3 days now). I think it's mod related bug then.

Anyway- I modified my save game (once again), to have same dynasty as my own son :p It works for now... And I'm waiting for more interesting developments :D

EDIT: Ah, one more thing- I conquered Rome from Pope. For some reason every time I grant bishopric of Rome to some of my vassals, it ends up in Pope's hands pretty quickly (no war or anything- he just sits there, replacing my vassal... And of course he's independent.). WAD?

Yes, an AI ruler of the same religion as the Pope will always hand the bishopric over to him. If you're an Emperor, he'll become your vassal when that happens.

Doesn't work then- he got Bishopric, but he didn't become my vassal. It happened three times before I decided to keep it rather than hand anyone.

Fair enough. I'll take a look and see what's wrong with it, but I might change it anyhow so that -- in a player-ruled realm -- the AI won't hand it over, but rather it's available as a "restore the Pope to Rome" type decision.
