while that is a good idea and very kool......to me it sounds as though after 1.9 there will not even be bug fixes.
Every single Free Update we have ever had... has had bug fixes, map refinements as well as features, Mechs, etc.

I don’t see Update 1.9 suddenly reversing that trend and not including Bug Fixes.

What is unrealistic in my opinion is to expect Update 1.9 to fix every single bug remaining in the game... some challenges will remain, but the game is eminently Healthy and offers World Class Big and Stompy game-play. I’ll live with whatever bugs remain.

Cheers, can’t wait to see what IP gets the HBS treatment next!

I checked out the game, when Steam had a free weekend nearly a year ago, around the 21. of February. I bought it after playing it for an hour or so. After finishing a 4-skull escort mission a couple of minutes ago, Steam shows me that I played the game for 823 hours since then.
So the game must have hit a nerve or something. ;)

As opposed to the majority here I think this is a fine time for you, the developers, to quit adding new stuff to the game, and leave that to the community - at least until you're done with your next projects and hopefully give us a new take on the game with a more powerful engine.

Until then I will surely add a lot more playing time, finish a couple of careers and try to improve the tools the AI has to work with.

Many thanks for this great game. I hope your next projects will work out the way you want them to.

Cheers, guys.

Thank you for allowing us to accompany HBS on the journey of producing a new BattleTech game. I look forward to seeing what projects come about in your future endeavors.

Well, when they say that after 1.9 "BATTLETECH will continue to maintain customer support", personally that sounds to me like they are specifically referring to bug fixes. Even if they don't spend as much time as they used to on looking for bugs, it does tend to be at least a bit easier to find existing bugs when the code is stable and has stopped having features added.

Either way, though... with the way the mod loader works, it's not out of the question for the community to come up with bug fixes.

Been a pleasure working on this with HBS, always loved Battletech.

I remember when my boss back in 2017 asked if I was interested in working on this, my response was "I played a crazy amount of MechCommander back in the day" and that was that. Since then we've launched the game, three DLCs, numerous free updates, welcomed them into the PDX group, helped them grow to handle two projects at the same time and started two new projects.

The only downside is, along the way I got promoted and now no longer work directly on any projects. I still find plenty of reasons to go visit Seattle though, so much fun working them.

I’m disappointed, but it’s pure greed on my part.
Born of a want for more of a good thing rather than a feeling as if I didn’t get enough.
This Kickstarter delivered (and then some) in the spirit the project was pitched and fully met, then exceeded my expectations.
I just want more.
For that, there’s the very able community of modders and your next projects. Whatever they may be, I’ll be checking in.

Thankyou HBS

Thank you so much for this game. In my opinion it is a good move not to create any more content for the game. You gave us not just a great game but also a platform for a modding-community that is already doing awesome work.
Hope to see you back with a Battletech 2 in some years that features units up to battaillon(regiment)-size, aerospace-fighters, dropships, deeper management, and much, much more. :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you

Seconded.

And might I add, very well said. : )

It was (a LOT of) fun while it lasted.

For me, the campaign was a real jewel.

Story mode = dead boring.

AI = dead stupid, but not worse than AIs of other games, so there is that.

None of the DLCs had much appeal, sadly. When we finally got to see some iconic mechs, they had added special buffs no other mechs got, come up with some new, lame weapons. ECM/ECCM super out of synch with the rest of the game. City fights... meeeeh.

But all in all, thank's HBS, you pretty much nailed it.

I'd love to see a BT2 game, only with some real love for mech internal locations.

Until then, goodbye.

i dont disagree.
but apparently i wasnt clear.
from the way HBS is talking....1.9 is it....the end.
and that is what concerns me....is there are still ALOT of things in the games present state that REALLY need fixing.
and 1.9 is NOT going to fix them all nor would i expect it to do so.

i am concerned that as of 1.9 release whatever is still not fixed will NEVER be fixed.
no 1.9.1 or 1.9.2 or 1.9.3 etc etc bug squashing updates.

After 5613-hours playing BATTLETECH (admittedly, these hours were mostly spent monitoring the Multiplayer Lobby with and without open Matches on my part) I do not see any major bugs that can not be troubleshot in short order.

The fact that HBS will soon consider BATTLETECH a “completed” game, is to me not unreasonable.

No game EVER is bug-free. I do not see any reason to hold HBS and BATTLETECH to such an unobtainable standard.

BATTLETECH is a great BattleTech game.

The best EVER in my opinion.

But it’s active development is coming to an end, as ALL things must.

More power to HBS and Paradox for doing so in a highly visible and transparent manner after handing our Modding Community the keys to the Rimward Periphery.

I know some may disagree with me, but the above is as I see it.

Thanks alot HBS for the great game, you have revived my interest in Battletech. This is one of my most played games for the past one and a half years. I hope some of the modders out there can make the Solaris arena a reality. I would take a crack at it if I had the time . I never played the Shadowrun games you made, so I will give them a run this year perhaps and I look forward to Battletech 2 hopefully on the Unreal Engine or even the Crytek engine with full company vs company mech action, and infantry , vtols and aerospace fighters.

Hmm, they've made *some* fixes to the modloader and the ability for modders to mod the modloader.

We'll see how far that gets or if we need to stick with Modtek.

Not gonna lie, thankful for the game, but unhappy about today's announcement.

From the team: For the 1.9 release, we have made some improvements to the ModLoader, such as improved logging messaging, a configurable mod installation folder, and several bugfixes and quality of life improvements. The ModLoader will also be patchable, so the modding community will be able to update and mod the ModLoader itself.
Remember that the mods themselves must be compatible with the latest version of BattleTech, and as mods are created externally to the game, not all mods are guaranteed to work.
