it seems its one of the laws... english aar pics ;)

There ought to be since there were several at least pseudo-elective monarchies in Europe during the time span...

Possibly, apparently. In the laws section in the screenshots, one of the systems for choosing the next monarch mentions electing. However, that could involve either nobles voting, or, the King himself deciding on his own who of this children he wants to follow his reign.

We only need to look at the list of titles in the English AAR:;)

If the king was elected away somehow, he should only lose the "king of England" title - I see no reason to doubt that he would still remain duke of Anjou and Normandy and count of Dyfed, Salisbury, Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset, Exeter, Bristol, Cumberland, Isle of Man, Westmorland, Durham, Lancaster, Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Northampton, Kent, Boulogne, Arques, Vexin, Evreux, Maine and Tourraine. I do guess, however, that the empty "liege" field would be given a nice, new and hopefully uglier-than-yours portrait...:D

What I want to know is that if a player monarch dies is a new one elected and you can continue playing with the elected one or is it finito

Cheers

Well in the game you play a family line not a country. So if your ruler died if he has no heir its over. If you have an heir and another person not of your family is elected king...if this is in...then you continue playing the heir who will not be king.....YET :D

You don't have to. Your heir will still inherit the other titles you have. In the example above The various duke and count titles.

Although the AARs and some of what has been written here seems to imply that not giving all your children some land seems to penalize you...but thats just rumor :D

just a bit of prestige, maybe.. nothing a good crusade cannot repair :D
or worse.. future not heirs might see the signs and plan accordingly

anyway, sending them to a monastry should handle that, vows of poverty :D
And dispensation might be gotten cheaply, just a hundred or so gp.

An interesting question is... could the king of France be elected king of Germany by being a German count or duke? Or is it impossible to own land within another country?

It's clearly possible to own land within another "country", since nation-states, which appears to be what you mean by "country", didn't exist yet. See the "Lion in Winter" AAR, which has Henry of England owning land in France. Nobody would have thought this unusual during the period covered by CK. So yes, it's possible for a French king to hold German territory, and more than likely it's possible for the French king to become King of Germany.

I wonder how a Franco-German king would be translated into EU2...
a supersized Lorraine?:D

Or france with german provinces.. one can hope this france gets german culture.. ;)

As far as being elected to a 'King' position, I suppose we could play a noble in the HRE. I would guess that we would play the game building prestige and influence hoping many from our line would be elected 'Emperor'...

...Of course it would be fun to try to make the HRE a hereditary state with you and your offspring calling the shots. A little forward thinking for the time, I know but one has to try.

I would imagine you could do something like that by chaning the succession laws of the HRE while you are emperor, but from the hints given by some of the betas, I think such changes would make your nobles very, very unhappy.... ;)
