1100 A.D. Update:
Uyghur Buddhist Dunkheger has exploded over the last 50 years. Eregje ‘the Wise’ gained Altay in 1052, Om in 1058, defeated Khangai in 1062, and took a big slice from Senramid in 1064. His brother Adigh inherited before being overthrown in 1071 by a vassal. Ketim ‘the Unready’ expanded in the West and overran Senramid’s eastern lands. He died in 1077 of an infected wound. His son Bortil ‘the Brute’ ruled until 1087, dying in battle against the Mongols. His son Asug ‘the Frog’ looked smart on paper. In practice he also died against the Mongols in 1094 having achieved little. Then the throne reverted back to Tutuq, the grandson of Eregje. He has been more successful, conquering Charkliq in 1086, subjecting Cherchen, and taking 2 counties in 1094 from the Mongols. He is outgoing and known as a poet, a scholar, but also lustful and paranoid.
Besud became the main Mongol realm under Bolkhadar ‘the Despoiler’ who defeated the Karluks. He died in 1080 after a 36-year reign. His son proved not up to the task, being defeated and executed by Chagatai ‘the Butcher’ in 1086. Chagatai largely successfully resisted Dunkheger’s expansion. He died in 1097 without sons, so a courtier named Monge inherited.
In 1055, Azeg II ‘Sharp Tongue’ created the Kingdom of Sibir. He died in 1057 and his son Blush inherited. Blush died in 1062 without sons, and Kutun Bachman inherited. But 4 years later, Anava ‘the Usurper’, Blush’s 18-year-old daughter managed to overthrow him, reestablishing Khanty rule. She then ruled for 30 years. In 1096 she was forced to abdicate in favor of Kutun’s son Koza ‘the Able’. He is ambitious, fierce in combat, and popular with the ladies. He is also a syphilitic lunatic. He has expanded the realm at nomad expense. It has been 145 years since Cilbu Bachman conquered the Khanty lands and still the struggle continues.
In Han Taoist Jiuquan, Rangneng gained a few more counties before his death in 1058. Since then Jiuquan hasn’t expanded. Jiang Dan ‘the Good’ was elected in 1058. His son Zhaodu inherited in 1069 before dying in 1095. It then passed to his nephew Ziyi who died after a year. Then Ziyi’s father and Dan’s son Jifu inherited. He is ambitious, a good steward, otherwise mediocre.
The Karluk Khurmatza Yolaids inherited Ilcurid in 1076. Satuq died in 1078 after conquering another Karluk realm.. His brother Kurtel ‘the Wicked’ inherited and conquered some western lands in 1086. He died in 1096 at which point Baghirid broke away. Bazir ‘the Evil’ inherited and has conquered some more western lands.
Khazar Tengri Itil passed to the Busirid dynasty in 1059. Busir II ‘the Just’ was a successful ruler, added some land, before dying in 1066. His brother Tabar II inherited. He was Sumensko. Then Tengri brother Tabghac ‘the Monster’ inherited in 1069. Then in 1089 Tabar’s son, Bugha ‘Iron Hand’ inherited. He’s not particularly competent. Defeated a revolt, but was forced to white peace a recent war.
Docimiumid is Turkish Zoroastrian. It is a recovery of the Tugrulid realm. Ridvin I ‘the Accursed’ ruled from 1046-61 and expanded Tugrulid north. His nephew Rustem inherited, but was overthrown and executed by his vassal Ridvin II Docimiumid. He reduced Kitbughai to vassals before his death in 1071. Then the Tugrulids were back. First Savar ‘the Bewitched’ and then his son Tenrivermis ‘the Noble’. Then in 1096, Ridvin II’s son Sonmez inherited.
Nenets Suomensko Votyaki dates back to a starting count. They became High Chiefs in 974 under Yapti. They then stagnated. But Yapti’s family died out in 993 helped by family feuding. Then the Nabtiko inherited. Ultimately the main branch died out and Illme, a distant cousin, inherited. Her son Sirtya Ngaid inherited in 1044 after murdering his brother. Since then it has passed parent to child. Khatyako ‘the Lady of Votyaki’ inherited in 1075. Her son Nga Syudbyid inherited in 1079. His daughter Atpalha now rules. They have slowly been expanding north toward the Arctic.
Zahak ‘the Tormentor’ died in 1058. His son Firdews inherited, but fell in battle against the Zoroastrians. His brother Sawar inherited. He died in in 1078 and his 9-year-old son Xarmandar inherited. He conquered some counties on reaching adulthood and made himself Shah in 1097. The Shia Fedayeen set up in Tabaristan and both them and him are attacking the rump descendant of Kavoosid for Gilan.
The Mkhargrdzeli had long ruled Tiflis. Ambitious lunatic Gvantsa ‘the Able’ inherited in 1034. She created the Duchy of Kartli in 1037. She then rested on her laurels until her death in 1065. Then her sister Gulchara inherited. She was zealous and a good general. Kakheti fell in 1067. Abkhazia in 1067. Tao in 1075. Then lands near Derbent in 1079. She then created the Kingdom of Georgia. She fell fighting Trebizond in 1087. She would later be beatified. Her son Seyfullah inherited, but was Levantine Monothelite of the Adhid dynasty like his father. He died in 1093 and his son Zahir now rules. He has lost several counties and is fighting Armeniacon and a Sunni revolt.
Bardas ‘the Tormentor’ created the Kingdom of Trezibond in 1052. He was overthrown in favor of his daughter Anthe ‘the Glorious’ in 1056. She ruled until 1087. Then her great-nephew Konstas inherited. But the Duchy of Armeniacon went to her son as an independent realm. Konstas has attacked Muslim realms several times unsuccessfully. A vassal did though conquer Paphlagonia in 1097.
Svetislav of Bulgaria died in 1054. The realm then bounced around every few years thanks to short life spans. Epirus broke away in 1065 and Braslaw ‘the Cruel’ made it a kingdom too. He expanded it a bit and then in 1084 inherited Bulgaria. He left no heirs, so on his death in 1092, Epirus and Bulgaria went to different vassals. Bertalan II rules in Bulgaria and is trying to press his claim on Epirus. Ivan rules in Epirus. Both are quite medicore.
Csak ‘the Depraved’ of Hungary died in 1044 after a reign of over 50 years. His 18-year-old son Mozes inherited. He would die just 4 years later, but those were four long years. Hungary had two titular Kingdoms (nomad clan titles from way back). The Chief of Bacs conquered Hadik in 1044 and the High Chief of Pecs Usora in 1046. Csak’s youngest son, Laszlo II, all of 12, now rules. His regency is trying to subjugate Usora. He is strong-willed and showing promise in intrigue.
Theocratic Italy has continued to grow. Urbanus ruled 1051-58. Then Caelestinus ‘the Sword of God’ inherited. Milan and Genoa were added in 1071 in a crusade. Several transalpine territories over the decade. Then in 1082 he was elected pope and abdicated from Italy. He recaptured Rome and moved the papal seat from Siena to there. His successor in Italy was Eugene ‘the Sea-Devil’. He was elected pope in 1091 when Caelestinus died. Italy went to Guerrino and then Ezzelino.
Fahd of Lacumacesid conquered a few more counties on the western edge. In 1064, he made himself a Sultan. He didn’t do much for the rest of his reign, dying in 1087. His son Takfarinas then inherited. He had already conquered lands in Tripolitania during his father’s reign. He then in 1088 took a Tunis foothold from Sardinia. He made Murcia a tributary. He is currently attacking Sardinia in a holy war. He is strong, sympathetic to other Abrahamic religions, has good stats, and is a syphilitic lunatic.
Hany ‘of the Empty Pockets’ conquered Paraetonium in 1059. Alexandria in 1061. He died in 1074 and his son Gerges I ‘of the Empty Pockets’ inherited. He ruled until 1096 and other than adding Damietta did little. Then his son Gerges II ‘the Monster’ inherited. He lost a war for Cyrenaica in 1098. He is currently fighting a tyranny revolt, though should win eventually. He is cruel and zealous, good at stewardship, and doesn’t know the meaning of diplomacy.
In Ryazan, Alexei ‘Strongarm’ died in 1051 fighting vassals and his cousin Lev ‘the Strong’ inherited. He conquered Kursk before his death in 1058. Then Igor inherited and died in 1060. Another cousin, Putiata, inherited. He formed the Kingdom of Chernigov in 1080 then died 2 years later. His son Briachislav inherited and was murdered in 1093 by a member of the previous ruling dynasty. Then Yaroslaw, youngest son of Lev, inherited. He is good at intrigue, not much else.
Sudislav II ‘the Young’ expanded Pskov across the Volga in the 1060s and crowned himself King of Novgorod in 1066. He died in 1078 and his son Dobrynia ‘the Bold’ inherited. He is bright, shrewd, and the best diplomat in the known world. He hasn’t done much though other than lose a county in 1079 to Norway.
Solvi ‘the Wise’ of Sweden lost his throne to Ireland in 1072. Finland was ruled by Gudrodr ‘the Cruel’ until 1080 and then by his daughter Tegla, though she rules all of 1 county. Norway on the other hand has thrived. Asbjorn ‘the Ambitious’ inherited in 1058. He then launched a series of campaigns in Sweden and Finland, by the end ruling most of each despite not holding those titles. He died in 1081 and his son Ale ‘the Monster’ inherited. He committed suicide in 1091 and Gudrodr’s son was chosen as heir. Fredrik ‘the Just’ is ambitious and currently winning a couple defensive wars.
Szymon ‘the Lionhearted’ of Pomerania was murdered by a vassal in 1061. His son Bozydar ‘the Cruel’ inherited. He has expanded the realm in northern Germany but lost some Scandinavian holdings. He is shrewd, a great general, good at most things besides diplomacy.
In West Frisia, Sorkver was succeeded in 1030 by his son Olafr ‘the Victorious’. He conquered broad lands in Burgundy and Lorraine before his death in 1042. Then his cousin Sorkver II inherited. He has the ambition to become King of Frisia and is great at diplomacy.
Suni ‘the Conqueror’ came from Sweden and conquered Gloucester in 1015. He made himself High Chief of Hwicce in 1024 and conquered Lancaster right before his death in 1030. His son Gospatrick inherited, but lost Lancaster by 1047 to Essex. A courtier named Porfinn inherited in 1048 then died before the year was out. Aethelberht subjected Essex in 1064. They were split on his death in 1072 between his sons. Thurfrith ‘the Ill-Ruler’ gained Hwicce, while Aethalberht II gained Essex. Aethalberht II died though and Ulfcytel, a younger son of Thurfrith inherited. Pretty boring in recent decades.
Frirek ‘the Cruel’ of Ireland died in 1062 and his son Sigbjorn II ‘the Unchaste’ inherited. He overran Denmark and added Sweden to the realm in 1072. He converted to Iconoclast Christianity, though most vassals remained pagan. He died without sons, so his court physician Serafinu ‘the Monster’ inherited in 1084. He has high learning, but is also a lunatic.
In Songhay, Hargani ‘the Quarreler’ died in 1053. His son Laraba inherited only to be slain in a duel by his brother Zalil ‘Ironside’ in 1060. In 1068 he lost his throne to his brother Aranda ‘the Hideous’ (who had killed another brother back in 1061), but kept his life and a duchy, before being murdered by one of his sisters a decade later. Akoi Yatenga of Timbuktu then interrupted this loving family and subjugated Songhay. He died the following year and his son Birma inherited. In 1094 Bannu Tunkara of Bambuk subjugated Songhay. His son Fadazu now rules a realm doubled by the weird trick of being conquered by its neighbors. He is a brilliant diplomat and is sympathetic to Islam.
In Kanem, Musa died in 1054 before he managed to subdue his brother. Danladi ‘Ironside’ then inherited. He still rules. He conquered several counties, expanding to the Mediterranean Sea in the 1070s and sometime during the 1080s converted to Islam. He is Zealous in his new faith. He is shrewd, strong, bright, and comely but has lost a hand and an eye in combat.
Ethiopian Miaphysite Totit ‘the Old’ of Abyssinia lost Alodia to a Mandean revolt in 1064. At her death in 1067 a Nubian noble named Fasilidas of the Tefere dynasty inherited. He was murdered by a distant cousin the following year. Another distant cousin, Girma ‘the Accursed’ inherited. His rule was disastrous. The Muhammadids conquered Makuria and crucified the 15-year-old Duke in 1071. In 1072 the heart of Abyssinia was ripped out by a Mandean revolt, forming Axum. Then in 1073 Mubarakid conquered Berbera. In 1079 his cousin Fethee ‘the Accursed’ murdered him and inherited. He died in 1087 and another cousin, Bekele ‘the Evil’ inherited. She was Mandean and reconquered Afar from Mubarakid in 1093. But she now looks likely to lose Gondar to the Muhammadids. She is zealous, ambitious, and quite intelligent.
In 1052 Abdullah Muhammadid died and his son Sami inherited. He created the Kingdom of Arabia in 1059. Makuria and a few random counties were gained. He then died of a combo of tuberculosis and leprosy in 1083. His son Aram inherited and ruled until 1096. Then cousin Mansur ‘the Lame’ inherited. He is attractive, strong, and zealous, thus the war against Abyssinia.
Abdul-Gafur ‘the Old’ made himself a king in 1060. He conquered Berbera. His son Alim inherited in 1085. He was defeated in 1093 by Abyssinia and then 2 years later was overthrown by younger brother Aghlab. He is a brilliant diplomat but a decedent carouser.
Ghocheh ‘the Just’ in 1059 crowned herself Queen of Khorasan. She died the next year and her daughter Bulit inherited. Then her brother Tuzmish who fell against rebels. Then his nephew Tatpar ‘the Illuminated’ inherited in 1083. They all took after Ghocheh’s husband and are Uyghur Buddhist. The realm hasn’t expanded much.
Bodpa Buddhist Gunggyal Hungrel died in 1050. His son Lek ‘the Butcher’ inherited and rules to this day. He is incompetent at everything except war and theology. He created the Kingdom of Uttaranchal in 1086. However the only expansion has been by a vassal. Praniyata inherited a county as an infant. She then expanded her lands. Interestingly she is Saka in culture. Also a lunatic.
The Gujarati Jain Someshwarid date back to game start. In 968 they elevated themselves to Rajas. Not much happened, until Dungar-Singh inherited in 1030. The neighboring Debulids had created the Kingdom of Sindh which he conquered form them. He died in 1040 and his son Harischandra inherited. He expanded the realm a bit. Then in 1057 his daughter Sundaridevi ‘the Great’ inherited. She added some more land and ruled until 1094. Her son Shurapala now rules.
Bodpa Buddhist Dondup ‘the Monster’ inherited a single county at the age of 8 in 1013. Starting in 1045 he went on a conquering spree, creating a duchy in 1059. He died in 1070 and his nephew Mangsong inherited. He died in 1094 after a slow reign. His son Lhanang is a diligent ruler good at stewardship. He conquered lands in Nepal and a county was gained from Kamarupa.
Dakri ‘the Just’ conquered a few counties before his death in 1064. His son Gangkarwa ruled until 1070. Then his brother Dakri II inherited before being overthrown by his sister Sadmarkar. She was then subjugated by a Tibetan chief named Lotsen in 1082. He died in 1086 and his son Chokey inherited. Then a cousin named Tritog, a Bodpa Jain inherited in 1091. He is focused on theology and stewardship.
Hindustani Buddhist Brahmapala Jujharid conquered a few counties then in 970 he conquered Trigarta from his younger brother. He then crowned himself King of Gondwana. In 979 he died and his 7-year-old daughter Akal ‘the Tenacious’ inherited. She lost a few counties on the eastern edge, gained a few on the western one. She is generally competent except in martial and is pregnant with her first child.
Teluga Hindu Mallapid has its roots back to 992 when a 65-year-old courtier inherited a county. His grandson, also named Mallapa, inherited in 1015. He conquered a county in 1018 and then 5 more from 1034 to his death in 1048. His daughter Hariharamba inherited in 1048 and created a duchy in 1051. She died in 1059 and her son Mallapa ‘the Noble’ inherited. The duchy of Vengi was added by 1062. In 1072 he created the Kingdom of Telingana. To his north lay Singamanayakid, also very much a rising power and to his south was Perumalid. So instead of finishing unifying the Telugu, he swept west doubling the size of his realm from 1084 to his death in 1096. His son Kaapayanayaka won a war last year. He is quick and shows promise.
