Unmodded CK3 1.15.0.2

I started as King of Asturias. Went adventurer by failing vassal imprisonment and surrendering subsequent liberty war, abandoning my titles to my son Ramon. He has been king since, reforming Asturias into Castile and Leon.

18 years into the game and I have never received renown from him, despite him being an independent king of my dynasty.

Even when I kill my main character Leto and play as my second son, Paul, half-brother to the King of Asturias, I still get no renown from him. Even when I kill Ramon and his sons take over his two thrones of Castile and Leon, still no renown.

The issue is that the dynasty head is an adventurer. Used console commands to kill off the camp while POV Ramon, and the moment I (landed king Ramon) became dynasty head, the renown started flowing.

Why this is an issue, or if that is intended, I cannot say. But the cause is that you, the dynasty head, are landless.

Ah thanks, much appreciate your sleuthing.

Strange design if WAD. I like the idea of roaming around, putting my dynasty on thrones, coordinating in the background. I see others who like this idea too, sucks if you can't do it properly as dynasty head.

Yes, I agree with you.

I'd file a bug report and see what happens. Best case scenario it's a bug and gets fixed. Worst case we get confirmation it's WAD.

I assume it's a bug coz adventurers are duchy tier rulers, technically, and paradox didnt want you to gain renown from being a duke.... So they did something to remove that. And ig that something just happened to be "turning renown per tier off completely"

If that is the case, the Devs should have simply added an Modifier for Adventurer Characters, that prevents them from generating no Renown for Titles and not their landed and true Rulers(technically, Adventurers are Rulers) from gaining Renown for their Dynasty.

But in my Opinion, this Issue could have been solved by adding a new Tier below Barons, for Adventurers and Noble Family Heads.

A duke gets 0.50 renown per month. An adventurer getting the same would not upset game balance in the slightest, when even in vanilla you could get at worst 100 per month for romance schemes if your culture has chivalry tradition.

It also really doesn't make sense that the landless adventurer would be dynasty head while there's an actual landed king, army sizes notwithstanding.

You can only be dynastic head if you are also a house head. If the king makes a cadet branch, he should become dynasty head. You also see this a lot with clan governments where the house/dynasty house got unlanded but since no one has created any new houses, they are still the dynastic head.

I agree with this answer, and @OP, I think you should bug report this.

I don't believe that adventurers were ever intended to be dynasty head or house head over a landed character, but they can become so with a larger army. Generally, the only time I am an adventurer with a large army is when I'm gearing up to convert to conquer land after I've completed most of my travels.

However, it seems bizarre that a freelancing adventurer lacking the only inherent wealth of time: land, should ever be considered more powerful than a landed character even if that adventurer has more MAAs or some other gamey/arbitrary measure at a particular moment in time.

Maybe only allow Adventurers with the Conqueror trait be allowed dynasty/house head?

Thanks all, I have bug reported here:

Also, an update: I killed off my first char, Leto, soon after the save above. Then 3 years into playing as his second son, Paul, my first son Ramon, King of Castille, created a new house, and soon the game flipped dynasty headship over to him, and dynasty renown started ticking up. I don't know why he picked that random time to create a new house. Especially as he was infirm and in poor health at the time.
