Other than a random fire, is it possible to destroy Factories in a province?

I once attacked an enemy province to obtain a naval equipment factory shown on the map in that province, however after taking the capital and annexing the country the naval factory was gone, and so to the reason for my attack. What's going on here?

I'm not sure. I've seen the same thing. Sometimes a factory is destroyed when a province is taken and sometimes not. Maybe it is a random event triggered by battles in or conquest of a province?

Hmmm.... i've seen them disappearing after assault, but not after siege. Maybe haven't played enough though...

I dont think so. Im playing as The palatinat, conquered baden, thuringien and helvetia and built a factory in every province. They are destroyed every time the province is sieged. And is pretty annoying, because i have to take some loans to rebuild it.

It's definitely random. One game I lost *all* my infrastructure to a wave of revolts (when the fort goes over to the rebels I guess it counts as a successful siege)- but I didn't lose any the last time I played.

I think I've seen them destroyed when a province becomes looted, too.

I was playing Brandenburg and had united all of Northern Germany diplomatically (that's a lot of revolts to ruthlessly crush)... got into a war with Saxony since they hated me and were Catholic. I crushed the army he sent at me, but 7000 infantry escaped and ran all over my country destroying my manufactories even though the army wasn't big enough to siege my fortresses and my manufactories were (supposedly) behind the city walls!
