A google search of this question only brings up threads from years ago.

I like events, but i HATE the 'remove all weights benches/tvs/whatever' event. It just seems nonsensical to me and I don't want to experience it.

I tried opening the .dat files to edit the event out myself but the code is encrypted so I don't know how to access it.

I also can't find a mod that fits the bill.

So does anyone know how I can remove specific events from popping up in my game?

Hi

If you use WinRAR you can use that to open the main.dat, that is what I use. In here you find events.txt

You can remove events you don't want BUT if you edit it like this and just save in the default main.dat your edits will get removed at every update.

I recommend you make a copy of events.txt, and edit it how you wish to remove things you dislike. Then you should navigate to Appdata>Local>Introversion>Prison Architect>Mods. Make a folder in here with whatever name you want for it. Inside that folder, you need to do two things.
1. make another folder called "data" where you will put your edited events.txt
2. add a txt file called manifest and put

Name "Events Mod"
Author "NEXUS12"
Description "My mod to remove bad events from the game"
Version 1.0
IsTranslation false

Obviously, you can edit the name, author, description, and version however you want. Keep the speech marks.

That is a crash course in making the mod for yourself. At that point, it *should* work just fine once you enable it in-game. You can upload it to the workshop from the in-game mods menu also if you want to share your creation.
