Can ''installing'' the game by just copying the files create some problems?

I had a new computer so instead of installing the game I just copied the files from another computer and everything seems to work fine. I also have the same checksum. I have also always done this when I have had to re-install the game or something similar and I don't even remember when I last installed it from CD.

However I played in a multiplayer game and there were some bugs, maybe even more than usually. One player thought that it might be because I havent really installed the game.

Can it be the reason?

As long as the checksum matches you shouldn't have a problem with MP. Not actually installing the game should not cause any problems except possibly with being able to install patches.

ok, good. Luckily I don't have to install any patches since the game is already patched.
