My brother fled to another court but his wife is still in mine. Can he get her pregnant so that I can have a bunch of nieces and nephews?:D

Coincidentally yes. I don't think the game factors in different courts when determining pregnancy.

Unfortunately I believe the children follow the man, so his children will be born into his new court.

Nope .. I am pretty sure they stay with the mother, and move with her, if she moves court.

@OP: Wives can even get pregnant, even when their husbands is off to somewhere in the Middle-East fighting infidels :D ... you can make of that what you will ;)

Yeah, that always bothered me. But I decided they come with me to the Holy land. After all, what is more romantic than a crusade at moonlight?

I never liked nieces and nephews, I've always favored one son and his son, my grandson, so on and so forth.

On the other hand, in one of my games, at least 50% of dukes and counts were of my bloodline. Some even flowed out to neighboring and sometimes, far flung states. You can just imagine the internal feud for the crown..

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Generally you shouldn't expect children from exiled relatives to stick around though.

And this is where that "special underwear" - sorry can't remember the english word for it - comes in. They actually had metal "underwear" with locks that women had to wear when their men were away. I can't imagine it was common since it must be quite difficult to function when wearing such a terrible thing.

That would be called a chastity belt ;)

In my current game as Sicily (started as Apulia) I played for a long time with the aim of making every single vassal of my bloodline, and also so that I only had dukes for vassals and all the counts were vassals of the correct dukes. It went awry when my empire became too big and I took over Germany and France in quick succession.

Now, I've got to the point where there only 2 more christian kingdoms to take and only 1 big arab kingdom (and a number of independant Duchys and Counties). I think when I've got every kingdom title under my belt I'll change my succession so that all my titles are divided equally and create De Hautville kingdoms throughout the world.

One thing I've noticed is that once you have a Duke in your family it isn't long before all of his vassals are also family too.

The AI does that to avoid the prestige loss for having landless sons. So, if you want a dynasty to survive, either raise them up to the Ducal level or keep that particular title for yourself.

A tidbit of information here. If for some reason you'd like him (and his children) to come back to your Court, since his wife is still in your court, give her an Adviser position. Unless he gets appointed to be an adviser in that other court, he'll soon move back home. The move should happen within a months time, so stick her somewhere not that vital for the short-term - Spy Mistress would be the best choice.

If he does get a Court Position in that other court, then you'll have to wait until --

A) That court gets dis-solved due to losing a war.
B) He once again gets uphappy where he is and changes court.

I like having Dynasty family sitting in my Court, they're so good for all those 'unexpected emergencies' IE - Need a new Steward and I need her yesterday.. :)
