So I picked up the game again after not playing for a while, and was happily playing along exploring new features, when I noticed the regency dynamic.....and I just, dont understand it all.

First of all, if anyone can help answer the below, that would be great:

1) How do I tell if I am in a regency or not?
2) How to I set it so the regency automatically ends once the cause is over?
3) Why do sons stop being an heir once they become a regent? And how do I stop this?
4) Is the a game rule that turns this feature off? It's so badly implemented I'm genuinely shocked.

Overall the the regency screen is absolutely confusing, with tooltips and essentially every element of the UI not being clear about anything.
For example, there are a series of tiers on the balance of power, but which is the one I am currently at? How do I affect this?
Apparently I can end the regency? How, there arent any interactions that detail this. If I'm not in a regency, this leads to the earlier question of how I can tell?

I had a look and couldn't see any way to turn this "feature" off, so are there any suggested mods that get rid of it, or otherwise turn it into a system that is more logical?

Does anyone actually like this system, or think it well implemented? I would be curious to hear why you think so.

1. A button for the interface will appear at the bottom left of your screen. From memory, there's also a toast.
2. You'll get a notification in your Issues Widget.
3. I don't know what you mean. This is news to me. Are they your regent or someone else's?
4. No.

Might be worth checking out the DD:

You can also see the status of your regency, what the line of succession for it is, how to swing the scales of power, and how to end it by going to the "realms" tab and clicking on the regency button at the top.

My main complaint is that my regent doesn’t actually conduct the business of ruling on my behalf, e.g. declare wars, arrange marriages etc. I understand some players may not like the loss of agency but as I see it my character would still be able to arrange activities / engage with events / plot to remove the regent. Perhaps a game rule would be most suitable.

Additionally, I think a regent should be appointed if a ruler is participating in a Great Holy War.

I actually think a regent should run things whenever the ruler is commanding any army.

Thanks, I think i get it now.
I'm guessing 3 is just a bug then.

Most of my issues seem to boil down to the interface making it look like the regency is active, but it actually isnt.
Honestly in general, the UI in CK3 is just god-awful, with the amount of things that are just poorly presented, confusing, or outright obfuscated (like de jure drift).

For some reason, I often get an entrenched regent. Eventhough I'm not travelling or have any kind of illness.
Same and I've spotted it happens after inheriting other titles, probably a bug rather than a feature.
IMHO regencies aren;t that bad but the mechanic should be expended, regencies should happens during every war when the rules is commanding the armies, anytime the ruler is badly wounded or sick and so on.
